Private & Independent Schools
| The number of posts on this thread from people who don't have kids in private schools is hilarious. |

We are going through the private school admissions process for 9th grade in another city. I won't deny I think about the money all the time. So I do pay close attention to what we would be getting for the tuition.
There is no right or wrong answer here. Every school is different, every child is different. For our own kid, we are seeing real value in a good private school. If it wasn't an option, we would certainly double down on his public options and make it work. The justifications we have is for ourselves, not others. And some of the schools we are looking at are genuinely impressive in their offerings and college placements though I only use the latter as an indicator of how challenging the curriculum is. Being surrounded by like minded peers can be rewarding. So we will apply and see what happe s. But I don't consider it a waste, especially not after touring a range of terrific schools. |

I have twins - one in public and one in private. They are both in the right place for them.
It's not "better". It's what works for your individual kid and your family. |
Totally, because how on earth someone with kids in a private school would say that the school is a bit overpriced. |
At least we know what we are or are not getting. Not sure how someone with no kids in a private school can attest to its value. |
| If you are remotely familiar with public schools, and understand how to raise children beyond just test scores and college admissions, then you understand what a terrible environment school can be even for the public school "success" stories. |
Totally, 90 percent of American kids are being tortured in those “schools”. |
| OP, I didn't realize that public schools could offer non-coed or religious options. |
Sure. Those Lower class families are not allowed to comment on private schools at all. Only us, know exactly what is this deal about. How on earth they say that private schools are expensive ? |
As I said, you pay for the right peer group. Read the post again. |
| You're free to comment, but no one is going to give it any credibility. |
Of course yothe credible words of…. An anonymous poster. |
What does going to a religious school have to do with "peer group" when in many if not most instances the students/families don't even identify with the denomination? |
| Ignore the trolls. This is a troll post. Just ignore. |
Well, nobody forces anyone to go to a religious school, so I guess parents prefer that peer group, right? |
