Arlington has proactively had individual discussions with families of current trapped players about this year’s placement and next year’s expected placement after the SY transition. Silence from other clubs.

I think the hardest decisions are kids who fall after 8/1 but would be playing “down” a graduation year.

As a club you'd never do this because it would screw the player up when it comes to recruiting. If they cant make the A team they'd be put on the B team with players their grade.

This doesn’t screw up recruiting. A competent club gets their players committed. You are all so easily tricked.

Put yourself in a college coaches shoes and remember that most programs have 100s of players reaching out to play on their team.

Would you choose players playing on teams that are their grade in school?

or

Would you choose players playing on teams that are a grade down from their grade in school?

The problem with playing down a grade is their ability to play against players their grade and older in college comes into question.

I would take the best players that write me e-mails and would watch the players that write me emails.

So you're saying the players playing down a grade would be instantly discounted because they're playing at a lower level than players that are playing with their grade in school.

Yes this is exactly what I said would happen.

Please stop. You’ve already ruined the ecnl age change thread. Just move on and worry about your own kid.

Please stop yourself + face the reality that even with an eligibility window clubs will group players by grade.

Can you just chill? If you have something to post that shows actual club social posts or emails regarding team formations, (and it supports your crazy theories) then post away. But as the other guy notes, you already ruined one thread. Can you not ruin this one too?

I disagree with you. We have current examples in DD’s club that disprove what you’re saying.

This was very poorly written and creates additional questions.

They would have been better off saying nothing.

I am not with Arlington but what additional questions does the FAQs not address?

It was nebulous and contradictory in multiple places.

They could have written we'll decide which teams players play on and there would be less questions.

No, they are trying to answer every possible question from you parents. I have a Q4 2014. He will probably have the choice to stay with 2014 or drop down to his school grade. Right now, his teammates are all middle school. He closest friends are all age groups 2015's and Q4 2014's. We really don't give a rip. All of this discuss is simply anxiety.

agree. a low percentage of kids will end up switching teams.

Agreeing that college coaches want players grouped by grade is the first step in the process.

who cares. the cutoff is the cutoff. If an august birthday girl is good enough to play in college, she will be playing "up" anyway.

I'm sure many Q4 kids will be playing up to stay with their previous teams, especially at smaller clubs. Not really going to be a big deal for most. Shrug.

If you're not planning to play in college why play competitive soccer?

If college coaches want players grouped by grade wouldn't it make sense for clubs to do this as early of an age as possible?

No, coaches recruit players not teams, they will be fine grouped by age. And everybody plays for differing reasons, worry about your own kid.
