College BF Names Daughter Same As Me

Anonymous
I always wanted to name a daughter a particular name. My husband vetoed it because it was his ex's name. He agreed that it was a great name, but he said, "she'd definitely imagine that our daughter's name was about her." At the time, I disagreed that anyone would see it that way, but now I see that he might have been right.

Really not a big deal. My son shares the name of the boy to whom I lost my virginity. If this guy heard, he may be flattered or think it’s weird…but I could care less. He was so inconsequential to me that I don’t even think of him when I hear the name. It’s the same name as one of my best friends from high school and that is always who I think about when I hear the name. It’s always been one of my favorite names.

Happened to me, too. I thought it was odd but it does not mean anything.

Since the name is not very common then yes it IS weird.

Hope his wife/GF is cool with it……

+1. I wouldn’t read anything else into it.

Ha.. This!

How is being told your ex named your kid after you not moving on from college?

That is weird, right?

OP: Did you forget to copyright your name ?!!!

Plus, I can do better than you. My longtime high school gf named her daughter after my dog. I felt honored. Warmed my heart.

Do you people really keep in touch with what long ago exes have done? I just about never think of them.

OP has messy friends for even sharing this.

How uncommon are we talking? Something super rare, like the name Eudoxie (it's pronounced you-DOX-ee-uh ). Ot somethign uncommon but not unheard of, like Elise.

+1 Who does that? Did OP ask for news about her ex? One messy friend running to tell this "news", I'd buy. But a whole group?

OP, you need better friends. Ideally people who aren't gossipy mutuals with your ex.

It's weird.

My dad did same, and my mom knew the name was his ex girlfriend's name. There were a couple of pictures of the girlfriend in our house growing up.

My name is very pretty, but nope. It's weird.

It’s weird, but not as uncommon as you would think.

I knew someone who did ex girlfriend middle name

It’s weird, it’s a deliberate choice, good money says his wife has no clue. Posters here are typically 45+ — of course it’s off that OP’s ex used her name, they are young and relatively recent exes.

Don’t discuss further, but you’re correct, OP.
