I posted earlier as a UT parent and alum.

Yes, sorry, meant what is everyone hearing on parent pages and from campus etc. I don’t think I was very clear with my post.

Who's going to sign this first? My bet: Vanderbilt.

Kind of interesting if the WSJ reporter listed these universities verbatim in the order they were presented by the anonymous administration. What is the underlying pattern (if there is one)?

From article: 'The White House chose the schools because it believed they are, or could be, “good actors,” Mailman said. “They have a president who is a reformer or a board that has really indicated they are committed to a higher-quality education,” she said.'

Lol, FAFO. Play nice, get tuition frozen.

Don’t sign, there is vague language in the agreement that allows the administration to basically control the university if the school doesn’t meet certain criteria that can’t be objectively measured. School will always have money dangled in front of them until they comply, but can never comply because criteria is not measurable. Crazy to sign.

Always a sad greedy opportunist on these threads. Harvard could literally burn down and you'd make a post asking if admissions might be slightly easier.

Agreed. Any school that signs this as is should have its legal team disbarred for malpractice. They could offer my kid a full ride and I would not send them.

This country is being run like a childish mafia ring. And tens of millions of people think it is wonderful.

This is how they work. They put one or two things in each agreement that are good ideas and the rest is fascism or authoritarianism or christian nationalism or jsut straight up bullshit.

ASK THE ADMIN WHY THEY WONT JUST HAVE THEM SIGN TO FREEZE TUITION.

Exactly. Fox News and the rest of Trump's propaganda machine will only highlight the few slightly more reasonable items. So when one confronts a MAGA acquaintance who only gets their information from these sources, they will look at you like you are crazy for being opposed to it because they only know of the more innocuous part of it. Then when you try to explain the details to them, they will ignore you and shut down because how could anyone ever question the good intentions of St. Trump.

We are living in very scary times. Anyone who believed Trump when he said he knew nothing about Project 2025 is a moron who should not be allowed to vote or operate heavy machinery.

I'd like to know the details. Please explain them to me. I will read / listen with an open mind, but from what I have read this far in this thread everything seems fine.

Blame the far left liberals for policing our language, actions, work place environments, etc. They can be viewed as being authoritarian and for limiting free speech & the free exchange of ideas. Just try putting forth conservative ideas in a college or university class--see what happens and see how your grades suffer. Time to give conservative thoughts freedom equal to that of far left liberals.

Thank you President Trump for having the courage and skills and stamina for making American colleges open to the free expression of ideas even if the thoughts represent a conservative point of view.

America first !

I hope colleges tell him to "F off".

Harvard was in a position to do so and fought back, how will the others be able to?

It definitely feels like a trap because it's mostly liberal top schools, though including UT and Arizona are outliers.

So, if it's a trap it makes sense...if let's just say it will result in these schools sucking up way more than their fair share of federal $$$s, then I would imagine schools like Liberty or Hillsdale or SMU would be fairly pissed, no?
