And her career took a major hit from that decision. Then she was a mess for a while. I would say women like Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts found more of a middle ground, without sacrificing much. Even Angelina Jolie took pretty long breaks between projects. |
| The first thing I thought of when I saw this was that she had been working non-stop for the past few years to the point where people commented on it to her in interviews and such, And the movies and shows were not good. It seemed like she was compensating for something. I think work is an escape when things aren’t going well in your relationship. So it doesn’t surprise me to see this now. Also, I agree with the previous poster who said they were always OTT when in public. I can’t stand the way celebrities hang on each other on red carpets when they’ve been together for years. People in long term relationships don’t act like they’ve just started dating. It’s a performance and they perform this. I don’t know why because it comes off as inauthentic. |
Sure, but one of them works much harder and is away from the family far more often. He only tours every 2-3 years, otherwise is in Nashville. |
And? Good mothers don’t prioritize sustaining A list celeb status over being present for their kids. Jolie and Roberts aren’t good people imho. They’ve done some pretty crappy things. Bullock seems like a good human being; she hasn’t dumped her kids on hired help to chase her career. Nicole seems like she has a lot of issues. |
That’s so true boo |
I think PP was just giving examples of A-list actresses who managed to downshift and be present parents, without compromising much of anything. I can't think of an actress who works back-to-back-to-back like Kidman does. Agree a lot of it was mediocre, too. |
I wonder the bases for the rumors going back several months. He was busy promoting a new album and tour - so his being away from Nashville would have been expected. |
I laughed. |
Maybe he’s dating someone on tour with him? |

I love this amc skit because i think it captures key aspects of her ( latent) personality. 1. Her pretension and enormous capacity to take herself very seriously 2. Her social awkwardness and 3. Her grandiosity and desire for control/power.

Women can't ever win.
If they focus on their careers, they are criticized for not spending enough time at home with their kids. If they focus on raising their family, they automatically lose out on the best professional opportunities. Men are not subject to the same criticism, and gaily go about their careers while their wives raise the kids and mommy-track or stay home. I don't think any of us should criticize Nicole for wanting to be the most famous actress she can be. Yes there is a family cost. Men do that all the time. I stay home to raise my kids, but I will never criticize a woman for prioritizing her career. |
A man or a woman? |
Yep! Very true unfortunately. And women often are our own worst critics. |
Yes the OTT PDA's in public were ridiculous and appeared really inauthentic. Very performative. |
