The colleges on the whole are much worse. Outside of IIT and maybe 20 other colleges, the quality drops to near zero. Also, what private k-12s do you mean and what % of the population even gets to benefit? The US ranks 18 out of 74 on the PISA international test while India is 73 (in fairness, they stopped participating because their scores are so bad). |
| CS grads may have an easier time now. |
| It's a proclamation, not an executive order. Only Congress can set visa fees, and create new visa categories (the latter relates to TrumpCard). |
PP here. I left the US when I was laid off because I couldn't find another job. I then came back to do my PhD. I'm defending my thesis next year and will be moving back home to Ivory Coast. |

All this means is that they will outsource to other countries. H1Bs exist because Americans aren't capable of doing the work. Not even your computer science grads.
|
| Oh silly Donny-boy. Companies are not going to hire Americans do these jobs. They will just send the jobs overseas/hire remote workers. It's going to be worse for the economy because that's hundreds of thousands of people who won't be spending money in the U.S., they'll be spending their money in India and China. It's a really, really dumb thing to do without any thought. |

I'm not a supporter of this admin but I 100% support this. I don't even think it goes far enough.
The biggest fraud committed among American students is that somehow they are qualified to do the jobs that Indian IT workers are doing. When Indians hold 70% of H1B visa that's clear evidence of monopoly..and we all know monopoly aren't monopolies because somehow they offer better products. No, monopolies are a result of market failure. Hire American workers NOW. All H1B holders can go back and build their countries..they are very smart their countries need them more than us |
Most of these families have children who are Americans. What do you propose we do about them? Are you going to deport the Indians and leave their children in internment camps? |
| I came here as F1 and then did OPT. I couldn't get anyone to sponsor me for H1B visa. I then met my husband and subsequently got a green card. I cannot speak for everyone, but when I was interviewing it was clear that some companies do have a preference for hiring students who need visa sponsorship. During the interviews you get the sense that you NEED them and they are confident if they extend you an offer, you will likely accept whatever package they will offer you. |
They can take them with them. |

Why can't India do what China did? China has found a way to use their citizens who have US degrees.
And it's ironic to see Indians now crying foul. These people think they are superior to other minorities. Many of them support this admin. Lol I am not going to lose sleep. |
This. All these major international companies will just keep the labor overseas and expand their overseas subsidiary offices. |
| This is a good policy decision that should have bipartisan support |
Anchor babyism doesn't work. It was never a real thing. |
?? Same thing as if a long term family from England came here and had kids? They'd go back to England and take their kids with them to live in England? Not sure how this is hard for you. |
