Scientific estimates are between 1% of children and up to 5% of adults. Pretty odd considering how many have posted already in this thread. Wonder if something in the DC area causes such high rates of reactions? Most people just shake it off and sore for a day or two. |
I think this topic attracts folks with allergic reactions more so than regular folks. |
Regular folks could be allergic without knowing. |
Hopefully no one has to find out. |
I recently found out and I’m speechless. Keep asking myself why did it happen to me. |
True, and even then, not many people even visit this forum. |
I don't know anyone who has ever been allergic, and also don't know anyone who has never been stung at least once. That's out of a few hundred people. So it must be more rare that people realize. |

OP here. The doctor who saved my life at the hospital told me that he had two other patients , on the same day, who had been stung by yellow jackets and had an anaphylactic shock.
Please remember to protect yourself and your loved ones. Make an appointment with an allergist and ask him/her to order a blood test to know if you’re allergic to the bee and wasp families. |
| We, The Gardeners, can develop strategies to minimize hornets and yellow jackets nesting in our yards. |
| Befriend a skunk |
Skunks like in ground wasps and hornets? |
| Im confused. Are they not pollinators and don’t they also kill mosquitoes? Why is everyone running to kill all of them |
Because they are trying to kill YOU. |
It’s not odd. If you’re not allergic, you’re probably going to pass over the thread about bees. If you are allergic, you’re more likely to click on it because it impacts you. |
I am allergic and saw this on recent topics. I was not seeking out the information on the specific forum. It was on the main page for me. |
