Are you asking about mens or women's programs?

Op here. interested in men. I understand that there are very good d1 soccer colleges like VTech, UVA, W&M. Given the difficulty to get into them I'm looking for alternatives, maybe d2 or d3. or overlooked good d1s that are less tough to get into.

W&M is a good school but it’s not a good soccer school. The CAA is not a strong conference.

VT and UVA are in the ACC which is arguably the top men’s soccer conference. The next best conference with VA school representation is the Sun Belt. That’s where ODU and JMU play.

Go JuCo for two years to get bigger and stronger. Then transfer into a school that offers the major and grad program the player wants. JuCo seasons no longer count against NCAA eligibility, so they could play four more years and leave with their grad degree.

This is all clearly troll-bait. OP waits until day 5 and clarifies this is about men’s programs. Clown.

Most VA schools do well in their conference but when it comes to actually winning anything in the NCAA tournament not so much. UVA historically has been good but not a bit. CNU women won a national championship most recently.

Men Programs:
UVA
VT
JMU
CNU
W&L
Mary Wash
VA Wesleyan (very good past 2 years, who knows if it continues)

Women Programs:
UVA
VT
CNU
Mary Wash

Lynchburg men and women have their years. Hampden Sydney men have been decent the last couple of years and could go on a run at D3 level.

IMO these schools tend to be the best while also having a tougher strength of schedule.

The mist important factor is what level OPs son is capable of playing at.

this. Be real with yourself and coaching feedback. What league is DS coming from… as that really matters

Is OP’s son a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior?

op here son is in mlsn2 so I'm worried he won't make into the top programs hence looking for second or third tier college programs in va

So you’re not looking for the top VA programs OP. Your title should have been Mid to Lower VA College Programs.

Can someone clarify what gpa is needed to enter at which level (d1, 2 and 3) of soccer college for men in VA?

There is no accurate way to provide this information. If a student is a top 20 D1 soccer prospect their GPA can be significantly lower than the university average. Unless a student is receiving a scholarship, or projected to be a contributing player, they should expect to need a GPA above the 75th percentile as listed in the schools Common Data Set.

UVA has lost its luster specifically for womens soccer in the past 4 years. Great school. Terrible place to play womens soccer. No pro recruits (real pro no Jr pro(, haven't made it to ACC tournament, haven't gone far in NCAA tournament. Yeah.. they win a few games against Loyola, Howard and Fairleigh Dickinson but get stomped WF, Duke, FSU, Michigan etc. No facilities.
You can only live in your 2020 performance for so long.

Boy this did not age well. UVA women are #1 ranked team and stomping the other ACC teams
