OMG the episode with just the protaganist and the boyfriend forever in the apartment. I could not get through it. I confess that i FF the whole thing. a) it was boring band b) I was stressed about her getting up for work the next day. Is there any point to continuing? |
Spoilers I hated the ending. Both sisters ended up back with guys who treated them like garbage. They were only temporarily happy endings on my mind. |
Are you people INSANE? You think a 7 year old has the capacity to be a sexual deviant? If you've got that on your mind, the perversion is on you. |
Thanks to the spoilers below! Now I don't have to continue. 🤣😎 I can't stand how they depict these "kids" at work. I took work very seriously in my 20s. I never had the nerve to show up late or blow things off. If this is real life and how people treat work now, then I sympathize with my fellow gen-x ers who are fed up. |
I watched the whole thing. I FF through all the band performances and some other parts. It was better than I expected but I liked all the performances by the supporting characters better than I did the leads.
Also about people in their 20s, I don't relate to her style at all. The sailor collar dress and super short skirts. I wanted to look like an adult, especially at work. I don't understand this look. There was a lot of filler and padding. It was too long but it had some funny parts and the stuff about her relationship with Zev was believable and sad. |
I just finished this episode and didn't mind it. I thought it was sweet and indicative of new love. It WAS stressful about work, but I do remember being in a new relationship and putting off school and work to focus on it. Overall, i do like a show focused on an overweight heroine finding love. Like Bridget Jones but fat not mildly chubby. I am a little "eh" about the public humiliation scenes (also a hallmark of Bridget Jones, but I'm kinda over it by now). I liked the main character especially as the series goes on and the actress settles into the role. The character is insecure but also confident, which is hard to pull off but rings true to a lot of women's experiences. |
Dunham did a great job helping to launch the series Industry. She directed the first episode in the first season and was supposed to be the executive producer. That first episode is so well directed and really set the tone for the show.
Kinda weird how the showrunners of Industry don't really acknowledge her. Lena does not follow any of them on IG or the Industry page. They all follow her. Clearly some sort of professional breakup. Dunham does follow Marisa Abela, the female lead on Industry. |
I struggled to get through the first episode.
My question: why did they make the main character so unlikeable? So immature. So obsessed with her ex. So bizarre. A weirdo-loser who comes off as a jerk. There’s a way to have a character be witty and fun, but it’s like they opted to go another route. |
If the seven year old has already been abused, yes. This is how the cycle Of abuse perpetuates. It's "normal" And "play". A good parent teaches kids from a very young age about boundaries and private areas. If you aren't teaching this kind of stuff to your kids, you are part of the problem |
Lena Dunham is a deeply disturbed person. Whoever gave her the green light for another show should be penalized for allowing the disturbed garbage she creates into the world. |
Have you seen Survival of the Thickest? Very funny and sweet, the main character is very likeable as are many of the supporting characters. |
Is nobody with me on finding Andrew Scott to be looking pretty damned good in this show?! And as to be expected, he does a great job with his character, who is loathsome. Such a talented actor. Such muscular arms! |
I just watched episode 5 last night. If this show is autobiographical, I have a huge disdain for Jack Antonoff (of course this is from Lena Dunham’s perspective, but we’ve all known self-centered guys like this). |
He was really funny with this character. Self-absorbed and vain. He looks great in those sunglasses though! |
Without knowing it was some sort of weird biopic, I watched the first episode. It was awful. And not funny. |
