Maybe your kid didn’t make honor roll? |
This wasn’t nearly as cute and clever as you thought it sounded in your head… |
The school my kids attends will have their 3rd trimester honors assembly in September. That's when they always do it. |
Sounds like your school values academics. Must be nice. St Mary’s doesn’t have any assemblies for honor roll students — ever. And not even an acknowledgment over email for third trimester. |
Wow, I’m sorry, that really sucks. Have you considered changing schools? Not sure why you’d want to stay at one like that. |
I hope this isn’t a response from someone who works at the school. Sassy responses don’t help the situation. ——- To the PP who stated there were no BSSM academic assemblies, that isn’t accurate. The school has a Principal Award celebration after each trimester honoring students with a 95 or above in every subject area. |

Grade school honor roll is going to look so good on your child’s college application! |
Not everything is about college applications. It’s about leadership and priorities and recognizing students’ hard work. Granted, academics aren’t as important as basketball, etc, but it’s pretty important. |
That’s not what the post said. It said that there are no assemblies for HONOR ROLL. Principal award, btw, is 96 and above (not 95). And only 6th grade and higher are eligible. So 4th - 5th (not to mention honor roll for 6-8) get ZERO recognition at assemblies. And even principal award recipients get ZERO recognition for 3rd trimester. Priorities and what the school values is totally out of whack. |

Nah, my husband really likes the school. Not worth fighting with him over this. Will just discuss on DCUM instead. |
Edit: my husband is really into sports and likes the religious aspect. He’s fine with making academics a low or non priority. |
Tuition seems to go up by about significantly every year year lately. Plus large increases in fees (and a brand new fee) this year. The least they can do is give kids recognition for making friggin’ honor roll. Or is that too expensive? |
If your child has really good grades, sounds like academics is a high priority in your house. Is your child upset about the honor roll not being published? Aren't there other things you can do to promote learning in your home? Perhaps enroll your child in classes at Johns Hopkins CTY, enter a junior essay competition, etc.? |
