What a disappointment. It was so boring that I could not even finish episode 1. |
I adore 30 Rock. I think it gets funnier the more I watch it. Liz and Jack's platonic chemistry is an A+.
I rewatched Sisters and liked it. |
What is Gen X comedy? I think her comedy is specific to the time. If you watch a rerun of 30 Rock five years from now, you will not understand most of the references. But I think that's a problem with a ton of shows that relied on current events. |
+1 I like Sisters and Baby Mama and love how Tina and Amy switch on who is the "loser" and who is the "responsible one" it's so funny and it works either way. They are supremely talented. |
30 Rock is fast-paced. Fast pace is funnier.
Other setups don't work in a fast pace and that makes them less funny. |
There's an undercurrent of meanness in my Mean Girls?!?! |
I think Tina Fey gets at some common experiences for women and people in a way we can laugh at ourselves. The boat scene in Four Seasons highlights the ick of living with a long term partner with out pointing out all women or all men do x,y,z. Mean Girls, I quote the giant pore scene to my teenage daughter all the time because teenagers tend to put themselves under a microscope. I did love 30 Rock. For comparison, i do prefer wit like Gilmore Girls over slap stick Will Ferrell type humor. |
No, because they are funny. |
Never knew until recently about her big facial scar.
Just assumed it was some surgery but was a rando who attacked her. |
To be fair, we do indeed criticize Dave Chapelle for being mean. Also, Tina Fey is funnier than most of us will ever be. I love 85% of what she's done and that's pretty good. |
I love Tina fey. I loved bossy pants, and can rewatch 30 rock anytime.
Great news was also fantastic and ended too soon. I thought Kim was good for the first couple of seasons, but then kind of petered out I like mean girls OK but not as much as everybody else seems to. My favorite bits that she’s done is when she and Amy Poller hosted the Emmys for three years in a row. Their first 10 minutes of stand-up in each of those are so funny and better than any other hosting I’ve seen. Also, I love some of the SNL kids she wrote like Mom Jeans and Annuale, the once a year birth control pill where all hell breaks loose the once a year that you get your period. |
Also, I love how there’s like 1-3 Gen X women who are famous comedians and that’s it. That’s all there’s allowed to be. Meanwhile, there’s like 400 male comedians. |
I agree with how funny they both were cohosting, but I think you're referring to the Golden Globes from 2013-2015. |
Yes it was the golden globes. Go watch them, they are on YouTube. |
I don't accept this premise. Yes, there are a lot of male comedians, but there are a lot of women too! Tina Fey Amy Poehler Kristen Wiig Sarah Silverman Margaret Cho Tiffany Haddish Tig Notaro Chelsea Handler Mindy Kaling Maria Bamford Leslie Jones Kathleen Madigan Amber Ruffin Samantha Bee Fortune Feimster Chelsea Peretti Bridget Everett etc etc |
