If you are set on a bracelet, I’d go with something more dainty like a tennis bracelet or a gold rope.

Do not buy diamond studs for this purpose. Diamonds--other than an engagement ring--are not for daytime wear. She should not be wearing diamond studs to the office.

This is outdated advice. I and plenty of other women in the corporate world wear simple diamond studs daily.

Just because you do it, doesn't make it right. It is not outdated. It is tacky for the office.

No, you’re just ancient. Styles and “rules” change; if not, you’d still be wearing a corset and bloomers.

Just ignore the troll.

I echo the suggestion to go into a jewelry store to see if you can find anything she might like. I do think previous posters are correct that branded jewelry like Cartier and Tiffany charge what they do because of the name. But keep in mind that a lot of other jewelers do this too. For example, I love Anita Ko and Brent Neale and their prices are astronomical.

Jewelry is beautiful, but it’s also kind of a racket no matter how you slice and dice it.

Why not take her shopping? I love picking my own jewelry.

Hermes enamel is passé.

Go to a jewelry store. Not a brand name like Tiffany or Cartier but a good jewelry store like Tiny Jewel Box and pick out something that is actually worth your money.

+1

+2. This is the answer. If your wife specifically said she wants more "nice" jewelry, I would interpret that to mean solid 18k gold, diamonds, or fine gemstones. Not enamel. Agree with the suggestions to go to a fine jeweler, but not a designer jeweler.

+1 this is such outdated advice. Most of the women I socialize with wear diamond studs everyday.

I guess this is an unpopular opinion but I love my Hermes bangles. I would never wear the ones with a logo but I like the unbranded ones with whimsical patterns. I started collecting them in my 20s.

Just go to the store in City Center and ask for help. I always recommend getting it in a partner with something she likes (like if she likes dogs I would get a dog pattern or something) and in a color scheme that she wears.

I bet you still wear pantyhose too...

No, I do not. I have not worn them since I was in my early 20s in the late 90s, when it was still fashionable to do so. They are somewhat out of fashion now--and just unattractive so I don't. The other things I don't wear: Diamonds to work or white after Labor Day and before Memorial Day. Some rules just don't go out of style.

Sorry, no. You don't get to decide which outdated fashion rules are in or out.

And the whole white after Labor Day is rooted in classism and racism... the more you know

Please. That poster, anyone else, we all get to decide which fashion rules are in and out. For ourselves. To each their own. I wear diamonds at the office. But I don't wear white after 9/1. To me Sept is fall. I do wear panty hose and thick tights during cold months bc I solely wear dresses and skirts year round. However I do take out spring wear starting April 1st. But j reserve sleeveless outfits until June 1st onwards. All sleeveless outfits are put away on August 31st.

And stop being so woke about the whole classism racism thing with white clothing. It's passe. And before you tell me I am racist, I'm Asian American.

Some of the most racist people I've ever met are Asian lmfao.

No one is wearing them anymore.

A PP. I like the twist rope bracelet.

I think tennis bracelets are boring and not going to stay classic. Because anything with lots of diamonds can be suspected to be lab or fake.

Diamonds studs are classic because no matter what they are made of, they bring pleasing sparkle to the area of the face.

Tennis bracelets have been classic since the 80's. A pretty good run.

NP. You’re at least 60 with this “fashion advice.” No one younger than that is even talking about Labor Day.

Lol! NP. White jeans after Labor Day and prior to Memorial Day, yes please! And of course diamond studs are daily earrings in this area.

Bracelets can be hard to wear.

Side note: a boyfriend gave me a bracelet in college. When I showed it to a friend, she said, huh, that’s more of a friendship gift than a romantic gift. Turned out, he was cheating on me at the time, so she was right that it wasn’t a very romantic gift.

We all need a friend like that.

Agree. We live in a world where people wear pajamas and slippers in public on a regular basis and no one cares. Diamond studs in the day time is no longer a fashion faux pas.
