Antisemitism in Mcps

Those trying to hijack the ceremonies by chanting, changing speeches, and pulling out flags while on stage do. People should be respectful of all and ruining the experience for a political statement is not okay.

I have one graduating MCPS this week. I am anxious to see how things will be handled. I am hopeful that everything will be celebratory and politics will be left at home.

I don’t understand how displaying a Palestinian flag as you walk across the stage is disruptive. People waved flags from Senegal, El Salvador, and a bunch of other places.

As long as the rule is applied equally to all national flags, no problems with this.

Correct- no flags should be displayed. Kids should follow the rules and just walk across the stage. Stop trying to be the center of attention!

But some Jews, myself included, see the current efforts to be what they are — trying to eliminate all of Gaza. That’s not okay either. Hamas isn’t the women and children of Gaza.

They are not trying to eliminate GAZA. They are trying to protect Israel. Hamas attacked Israel. No, women, children, and innocent men should not be put in harm's way but it's a bunch of bad choices. Hamas is truly evil.

My kid reports swastica's in their bathrooms, when they are actually open to use.

Yes they are absolutely trying to eliminate Gaza and are on record as saying so. And the Israeli administration has absolutely been stealing Palestinian land and treating them with contempt and doing so while the world watches and even sanctions it.

You can support Jewish people and also want the people of Palestine to have safety and prosperity too. In fact many in Israel want this.

In this case, she put up a post on her personal social media, though. Look, I think her views are at best misguided - there is no evidence that the two young people murdered by antisemitic violence were supportive of the Government of Israel's actions in Gaza - but she was not "on the job" when she made this post.

It actually raises a pretty important question of what rights a teacher has while off the clock.

So whenever there's an incident, they bring in the ADL even if the group being targeted was not Jewish.

Not sure it can be posted as the thread on it got deleted. An Mcps teacher after the dc murders made a comment condoning or excusing it

It was deleted, but I was able to see it and see her profile when it was unlocked. Took screen shots. I am honestly shocked and surprised at how openly antisemitic that teacher is even though she’s Jewish. It’s OK to be antisemitic if you’re Jewish, I guess.

While I abhor what happened to the two people who got shot, I also abhor what is happening to the Palestinians.

I don't agree with the "two white racists" but she is not wrong about the other part. Children are dying in Gaza, and the IDF are laughing about it. That's disturbing, too.

If she's Jewish, I see her post as calling out the hypocrisy of anti-semitism and teaching kindness as a teacher of Jewish descent.

The federal government no longer cares about the Hatch Act, per the WH, so why should teachers?

The fact that she feels that any Jewish person is a white racist is a problem.

Out of curiosity, what are the rules if MCPS teachers make racist comments on their own social media. I'm sure MCPS has explicit rules. If they allow teachers to make racist comments, then I agree that this would be under that. But I'd be really surprised if that was the case.

But if you are calling for the destruction of Israel you cannot claim to be supporting Jewish people.

And this is exactly the problem. The situation is not black and white. You see saying that Israel should not be stealing Gaza as saying Israel should be destroyed. This is a false dichotomy.

This is obviously the problem, and it makes me think that she is so blinded by pain/trauma/outrage that she's not even looking at the situation. The event that these two young people we killed at was for an organization that I'd call maybe the 3rd or 4th most "pro-peace" Jewish groups in the county. They were by all accounts pro-peace themselves despite being employed by the Government of Israel. She is extended a guilt by association that would apply to any Jewish person.

You don't think there are Jewish people who are racist? Seriously? Jewish people can do no wrong?

There are teachers all over the country who post anti-Muslim, anti-semitic, anti-lgbtq, racist crap. Unfortunately, there are a lot of racist hateful people in positions of power.

What? How did you get that from this post? The TEACHER posted that the two people MURDERED were racist because they were white and Jewish. This was about them.
