Likes and don'ts about your neighbor/s

Also never bothered to train the dog how to walk on a leash so never walks it or lets it leave the yard.

You should visit the Pets forum.

An actual full court? Or just one of those ubiquitous basketball hoops?

Love our neighborhood and neighbors. The people on either side are quiet. One is an elderly woman who lives alone and the other is a nice empty nester couple. Other neighbors with kids who are our good friends are a few houses down. Kind of ideal because the immediate surroundings are nice but not in our business yet we can still walk to friends easily.

Fencing behind their property line until I remove their weeds, then moving their fence back

Stabbing nanny's tires

Holes in roof, window falling off

Gutters falling off

Diesel truck

Leaf blowing 7:45am

Constant, relentless landscaping projects, including tree pruning and leaf blowing yet it all still looks like sh--

All immediate neighbors redoing roofs same year

Hoarders who turn into 10-month tear down projects

Neighbors without trash collection

Neighbors who appear to enslave intellectually challenged tenants and force them to do difficult labor tasks

Not mowing lawn until it's more than waist high

Sounds like a Stephen King novel.

SFH in suburban subdivision of only 50 houses that dead ends so we don't get a ton of extra traffic, good place to walk so you get to know most people in the neighborhood.

Immediate neighbors are fine. No complaints. On side is a single Mom with one DD at home, other two are in college. Her husband passed away a few years back. They do have dog that does bark on occasion, but so do we...equal in that regard.

On the other side is a family with 4 kids - 3 DDs and one DS. Oldest is a HS senior, youngest in elementary school. Talk to them regularly, borrow stuff whether ingredients we are short for something or tools if needed. Get along well. Overall, no major complaints.

The plan is newer too, finished the builds in 2017 and there hasn't been a ton of turnover.

Relevant because we went from moving in at the wave of similar aged young families and a full school bus with ES kids. Yes, we all knew each other through school and sports. Now the families like us who remain are empty nesters.

One renter lives next door. We text ICE (can you grab a package? It’s raining! Or, can you bring our trash cans in?) Other neighbor more of same but we trade house keys and relevant info (tree workers might be working in early a.m./we are gone for the weekend FYI).

No socializing. Maybe annual block party but admittedly don’t enjoy w/o kids.

Problems are: dogs (one neighbor’s dog is always bolting out the door and literally chasing cars, trotting around everyone’s yards) and just as bad or worse, dogs on extended leashes who get walked over, across and around everyone’s -ESPECIALLY OURS yards. I mean so close that I routinely would scoop poop from a few steps from my porch!( We have never had a dog.)

I’ve PP in related threads but this I don’t understand: why, all of a sudden, it seems that
dog owners allow their leashed dogs to urinate and defecate all over other people’s lawns. All ages owners/dog breeds/not just in my neighborhood. We have a newer camera and several neighbors have caught and shamed scofflaws. I got a very nice keep off the grass sign that seems to help. Infuriating and outrageous - so disrespectful, gross and entitled. We also have a nice pocket park that sits unused (never seen a dog get walked there) and within sight of our house. Why then do the neighbors go down private driveways and let their dogs poop all over the place?

If you kept asking me to bring your trash in without being friends, I would let my dog poop on your yard too. WTF

PP quoted and allow me to help; my neighbors on either side of me aren’t part of the problem. One doesn’t even have a dog. We text maybe 2x year re: trash cans. It’s the “newer” neighbors who are walking their dogs all over our lawns - maybe because we do NOT know one another that fosters this lazy behavior?

Neighbor to the left is hot af and routinely walks around her bedroom nude in the morning after showering while getting dressed. Neighbor to the right is pretty much a shut in. I'll go weeks without speaking to them or seeing them. Close in Alexandria, SFH.

PP and have to add: neighbors who keep their duo of huge rolling bins right in view of their SFH like it’s a decorative feature.

On my street: one neighbor keeps bins aside her front walkway (1/2 way between door and curb), another keeps on the front of his (filled) one car garage -another at side of garage parallel to front. So ugly.

If someone asked you to help, you'd use your dog to be a jerk at them instead of just saying no? You are the jerk in this situation, and a crappy neighbor.

Do you know them? Friends with them?
Any pet peeves, annoyances and have you communicated with them about whatever it is that you don't like?
Do you live in an apartment, condo, townhouse, trailer, duplex, single family home, extended stay inn, group home etc.?

Lived in all of the above and got along well with all neighbors, were friends or friendly with most.

Get a couple traps, trap them, take to animal control. Problem solved.

No why should WE do any work THOSE cats?

So you aren't bothered by them anymore, Karen.

What? Why? He's not allowed to look out his windows? The lady giving the show knows exactly what she is doing and she loves it.
