Public universities: blind as to demographics
Private universities: should have to publish their acceptance methods publicly; and follow them.

In other words, I think private universities, being private, should be able to design their acceptance policies along the lines they choose. But to mitigate it being imbalanced/unfair/utterly discriminatory, they should at least have to state their plan.

Well, not too long ago, the plan for many private universities was to accept mostly white males who had attended the proper feeder schools. Extra points for legacy students and scions of extremely wealthy families, with a sprinkling of international students. Trump is old enough to remember when that was the norm, and it worked well for him.

Would you have that same energy if white students wanted a white organization?

You fail to understand that ALL American associations were “white male only” until recently.

In the past, women and minorities were not allowed to vote, not allowed to attend university, not allowed to own land, ETC… They were excluded from ALL associations.

"The Education Department warned schools in a letter on Friday that they risked losing federal funding if they continued to take race into account when making scholarship or hiring decisions, or so much as nodded to race in “all other aspects of student, academic and campus life.”

I don't even know where to begin...I feel like I'm in that Harry Potter movie where the Ministry of Magic keeps issuing inane decrees

Give me one example of schools using race as a factor when hiring someone or extending a scholarship to someone. Crickets.... schools are one place where racism isn't a factor. School age children haven't yet learned how to be racist at an early age. Perhaps us adults could learn something from our young children.

What about Girls on the Run programs?

DEI. They have to let boys in now. So much for protecting women’s sports.

You don’t need any of those things. Just be inclusive to everyone.

They already are. Anyone can join those clubs to learn about the cultural aspects of them.
So look! You learned some today.

The AA students associations are in fact open to everyone. There were always a few non Asians in the membership. There is no "Asians only" requirement.

Seems like the name alone creates exclusions. If someone made a White Girl student association do you think a Black Man is going to feel welcome even if they claim no White or female requirement? DEI people always claim inclusion but create nothing but exclusion.

Okay, this argument is on its face nonsense, but let's just look at the philosophy here. How is ANYONE being hurt by not participating in a WOMEN in STEM club or an International club?
There is no harm, so why the frack do you care?

Saying DEI = inclusion is just front for racists. I don’t tolerate racism.

Yes you do. I want to have the option to be in a club for women or for black people. Americans are different. That's ok. What's the difference between that and a club for athletes?

You don't understand racism. And DEI is inclusion, not exclusion. You are convinced that all these unqualified minorities are getting something you're not, instead of seeing that making the tent bigger is a GOOD thing. You do not want inclusion. You want the same small tent so you can keep your piece and not have to share.

I don't know if it is racism so much as selfish, myopic narcissism, but your arguments are not in good faith.

And Women's clubs and LGBTQ clubs and Black American clubs are not racist. They just ARE. Get over it.

Let’s test that theory. You’d be ok if someone created a white men’s club in a public institution like a school or university, correct?

No "white men's" club, no orange men's clubs, no brown men's clubs....... just clubs, okay? Is not being racist too much to ask? Grow up and get over yourselves!!

They have

Only they know where they came from so it is the German American association, Italian, etc

The German or Italian associations are not based on skin color like the Black organizations.

Try again.

Such tiresome, race obsessed clowns.

Love the way posters like you tbrow in the word "Southern," as if there aren't all white sororities and fraternities elsewhere. How about New England states, communities, neighborhoods, and colleges that are mostly white? Where is their diversity?
