What is M&D DC and are they any good?

It’s really a chicken and the egg argument. In order to get recruited by top schools, you need to be a great player, have good grades, preferably play on a competitive high school team (private) and practice a lot outside of team practices. Well who does that??? Girls that play for Capital, M&D and Hero’s. If the player is truly that good, they would play for one of these clubs.

Your chicken and/or the egg comparison would only work if they both were needed to have the other. Which isn't the case, it only goes one way. No one has to play on those teams in order to have those other attributes. A number of them choose to.

They are trying very hard to sell the dream, but few seem to be buying it. And I am sure the Capital 2026 recruiting results so far are not helping the situation.

What does few seem to be buying it mean? The Cap promotion team? They've been all over every thread going after the parents of the M&D DC 29s. They're telling you quite clearly what they're worried about. But of course you know that, as you're one of them.

M&D DC might well field some good middle school teams, but I think few are buying that “M&D DC will be on par with Capital in a few years”, which is what the original post said. The stakes are likely too high in school for top players to roll the dice on a far less certain outcome than Capital or top MD teams. Lose a few top players and it will all come crashing down, which everyone knows and probably makes the prophecy self fulfilling.

Pretty funny. 7 of the top Pride players (on a pretty good squad) just moved over in 7th grade. That always happens with Cap's main feeder. For the 30s, a bunch, too but that's a different discussion.

People are going to be pretty surprised it seems with 28 Cap Blue and 29 M&D DC fall ball.

FTR, I think the battleground is BLC's top players and where you should direct your energies. They're next door to M&D DC, after all. But knock yourself out.

So in 3 months they've pulled 7 top players from a very unusual place and a top 2 (to not upset the Cap community) recruiting director in the area. That happens to have a top 2 h.s. team, right there. Not in Alexandria. Hmmm...

I wouldn't say they "pulled" because NL is somehow a now great place to be -- it's not. 7 players were poached and given free rides to play. 2030, 2031, 2032, ... are all middle of the road B teams. And what players is the recruiting director going to support for the next 3 years? Not the 2026s, 2027s, and 2028s who are not very strong. The delusion runs high among NL families.

I think 7 sounds high. Guessing a couple but not all. Sucks to be the families convinced to leave by people who were moving for the free ride (which I would do!)

Yeah, so basically the NL people, at almost $4k per kid, are subsidizing the kids paying nothing. NL/M&D gives nothing away, they just find a way for the other parents to pay for it.

The cap parents crack me up, they just assume that all good DC players are going to cap come HS. M&D DC 29 just beat BLC again, and they took most of the best Pride 29 girls, so where is cap going to get players from next year? If no one leaves m&d dc, cap is screwed. No way that what’s left at pride, mce, and stars combine with blc and turn them into a power house. M&d dc lost 6-1 in the fall fest final to m&d black, but went shot for shot w m&d and lost bc their new goalie balled out. Blc played m&d in same tournament and got stomped.

The best players are going to end up on M&D Black, Hero's Green, Skywalkers Blue, or Capital Blue because their parents have been paying attention and won't jeopardize their DD's future for someone else's pet project. That is what will happen. It's all over but the shouting, as they say.

It is amazing to see the NL parents getting fired up over the new m&d name. You are not m&d black, your best players will leave for capital, and you will be standing there wondering why your team went from top 15 to outside the top 25 overnight.

They're probably not. And the battle will be for the top BLC players. Who conveniently are right next door and that top 2 DMV area school is pretty damn close as well. Coming into 9th grade...

The 2029 thread needs a IFYKYK guy like the 2028 parents. There are obviously a few m&D dc parents not looped in. If you don’t think majority of girls will be trying out for Capital or some of the big MD programs then you will be in for a surprise. I’m not a 2029 parent but I know a few parents in the 2029 team. They are 💯 going for Capital.
