That wasn't her question. Why should SHE have to get an IUD after all her body has been through? Keep using condoms. I also think you should feel free to stop sex altogether unless and until menopause/vasectomy. |
I just wanted to weigh in on the "right after my period is over" comment.
Are you thinking that is a less fertile time? That's not necessarily true. Sperm can live for days and you can easily ovulate a few days after your period. He should get a vasectomy. But if he doesn't, and you don't want to stop having sex, use two methods: a) condoms and b) track your cycle and figure out your less fertile days. It's probably during or right before your period, not just after. There are kits that can help with this. Please don't get a tubal, IUD, go back on pill, etc. Your body has been through enough and it is time for him to step up. I'm pissed at him on your behalf. |
This is actually not true. If you include any type of pain or complications, it's something like 15% (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7084350/). The 1-2% figure is only for post vasectomy pain syndrome. This is a severe side effect with lasting pain that does not subside (https://tau.amegroups.org/article/view/14896/html). And, up to 10% of men have ongoing pain at an average of 5 year after their vasectomy (https://oxfordvasectomyclinic.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Chronic-pain-levels.pdf) For chronic pain sufferers, often a vasectomy reversal is required, however sometimes even this does not fix the pain. |
I actually just re-read my own linked citation from the NIH and that one estimates chronic post vasectomy pain syndrome at 5%, so twice the rate of some other studies. If you told me there's a 1 in 20 chance I would experience chronic pain for years, and a 1 in 6 chance of some type of medium term unresolvable pain, I probably ain't doing that procedure, whatever it may be. Add to that the very large percent of men who report their orgasm not feeling the same anymore, or pain during orgasm. Fun times! |
Ok now look up maternal death rates in the U.S. and also compare them to other industrialized nations. |
Considering the women walking around with chronic back and or pelvic pain, incontinence, and anorgasmic due to pregnancy and birthing; I have little patience for him.
Has he considered post procedure pelvic floor therapy jic? |
Why did I read this as Cheapskate Urology! lol. I think I need to get my eyes checked |
Women die in childbirth not infrequently in the US. Should American women stop having children? |
It is hard to be a woman. Women grow people, from scratch, push them out/het then cut out of their bodies- with any number of long-term complications from that process, repeated multiple times for most and there are articles posted about the possible long-term complications from a vasectomy to include concerns with pain during orgasm? Has anyone given any thought to pain during intercourse for women? Sutures to repair a torn rectum? Urinary incontinence? Fecal incontinence? Chronic pain/small bowel obstruction from adhesions? Childbirth can be fatal. A vasectomy is a procedure. This thread is exhausting. |
+ ♾️ Hard agree |
I’m so done with having kids that the worry that I might get pregnant is enough that I don’t enjoy sex. When my husband is ready for more he’ll make his appointment. |
People are freaks on this thread. I know TONS OF men from age 40-80 that have had them. Zero issues. They are so commonplace and they even do them with laser nowadays. Complications are incredibly, incredibly rare. My husband got it done at GW---in and out...some ice the first day and zero issues, ZERO. IT's been 5 years post. It makes me think it's a bunch of guys being wimps and writing on here to make their case against getting one. |
