Google likes to also poach. They prefer referrals over "cold calls". |
I thought Google stopped doing the brain teaser questions. When I interviewed there eons ago, those were the only types of questions they asked - yes, 6 people all asking brain teaser questions. |
Adjusting for total enrollment though, as opposed to relevant enrollment. |
No Lehigh, Bucknell, UVA, UMD? |
The key is to have one of the desired skill sets. CS/Engineering students need to carefully select their upper-level within-major electives. |
Bucknell? UVA? No |
huh? I just looked on LinkedIn and @UVA + @Google was very present
weird agenda you have |
Johns Hopkins is at number 26. These are for tech jobs. UVA is not on the list, which I'm mildly surprised with. |
who cares about any arbitrary rankings when you can check LinkedIn.
Ridiculous. |
That's how they compiled this list. |
No these people have been laid off. Google has done rounds and rounds of layoffs in their self-driving efforts. CMU has a great track record of getting students hired this is a Google isssue. |
LOL this thread is so funny to me. My children went to top engineering schools. Except one, who went to a B tier school. I will be honest i was not happy when they chose that school but we felt strongly it's their life there is always graduate school. Well gee wiz this student went on not only to graduate school at another large state school and has surpassed their siblings who went to what this forum considers the cream of the crop. |
This list is like 3-4 years old…so it wouldn’t reflect any of that. |
Getting hired isn't the problem. Surviving the brutal work environments and not getting laid off or fired is the big problem. No one cares about schools except the competitive parents. |
This is partially true. Getting hired is very tough. I worked at a FAANG for 4 years and now work at another big tech company listed here. Work culture/environment is not as brutal/toxic as investment banking or academia but it can be intense and political for sure (late night hrs and weekend work definitely happen). However, this is also the case when working for many other Fortune500s. |
