Or volunteering, period? |
Help others. Doesn’t have to be a formal thing like at a soup kitchen. Could take a nice plant to a neighbor, bake cookies for teachers, write cards to friends and family you haven’t seen in a while, tutor/coach kids. When you focus your efforts on helping others, you’ll never run out of things to do or be bored and you will leave this world better than you found it! |
OP’s kids are older. 1 drives and her husband coaches the other one’s sport. One day your kids won’t need you to drive them either. |
Look on eventbrite for things to do and get on mailing lists. There's so much that I can never go to all the things I want Check all the Smithsonian's for events, library of Congress every Thursday night, dance classes, salsa nights on Tuesday in Arlington. Get a hobby like learning about art, wine tasting (sommelier class?), cooking new foods, growing garden, join community garden, exercise classes, write a book. We are jealous of your free time -- take advantage! Also read '4 Hour Work Week' for help learning what you really want to do. |
