Is it true you can dine and drink at a country club as a non-member?

Didn’t you ever see Fletch?

CC I've belonged to charge to member's account. No cash transactions.

It's called club reciprocity. Members can dine and often golf at any country club if you simply introduce yourself and explain you're traveling and what your home club is. They would only turn you down if it's some hyper-exclusive club or you look sketchy and prole. It's 2024, every restaurant has a credit card machine or pay with cash. They'll figure it out.

How would you pay? It's always charged to the member's account. You can't pay cash or bring a credit card.

Clubs can take credit cards.

No they don't.

Our old baby sitter kept going to our country club pool long after she quit working for us. She wasn't charging drinks or food, but she still had to check in for towels and a chair, so she would use our name/number. Once we were made aware, they claim they kicked her out.

Didn't Tucker Carlson get into a viral dinner scuffle at a country club in Charlottesville? Was he a member at a club in a college town two and a half hours from his house? I doubt it.

You can at my club but you have to sign an affidavit swearing that you're not...you know...like, you know...

Clubs can take credit cards.

Many do not

You still need to give them your member number for the bill.

I’ve never even done this. They just know who we are.

This was my first reaction. Why on earth?

Proximity and convenience when visiting family who live near one, with very limited dining options nearby.

Well, if you want the convenience of using the club facilities, I suggest you apply for membership.

We have a country club near us that allows the public to eat at restaurant but I guess it’s not a super exclusive club like congressional or Chevy, that’s why.
Anyway I think the food at these places is awful and mediocre at best. I wouldn’t want to eat there when DC has so many great restaurants. You only go because you want to see other club members or it’s easy because you just played golf or tennis or your kids are the pool. Maybe it’s also good when you want to host a small group of people in a private room.

Not special at all. Which is the point. That's how most country clubs work. The staff knows who the members are.

Unless it's an ultra exclusive club, no GM is going to turn you away.

Tell me you do t belong to a country club without Telling me you don't belong to a country club.....LOL

That's not what OP is talking about. It's clear they don't belong to any club so there is no reciprocity. They're just Joe Schmoe walking in from off the street like a restaurant. It doesn't work that way.
