Grand Canyon or Sedona for this?

The Grand Canyon on the other hand is one of the most breathtaking places on Earth - one of the 7 natural wonders.

It’s been a while since I was in Sedona and I missed the pink jeep tour (maybe it wasn’t operating then?) and I found it dreadfully boring. We saw some views and did an “energy vortex” hike that was fine. Honestly the botanical garden in Phoenix was way cooler. I’d spend a day there and go to the GC and skip Sedona all together.

When I visited the GC there was a bus that took you to amazing sunset views over the south rim. It was stunning. We hiked there too, but taking both the GC and the Sedona hikes out of the picture, I’d still go with GC.

I found Sedona to be awesome! Grand Canyon was awesome too except one of the hike up was exhausting but was beautiful. On the east side, there is a very strenuous hike. Easy to go down but hard to come up. You are on the edge with no railings but it's really cool. My son was 9 when he did it. Made in about 3 miles down but coming back was hard for me but not my son. Took me a good 2 hours coming back up. Yep. While my son ran up.
Your Dh and son could probably go a very short distance and turn back. It's spectacular once you are in the canyon. Bring water at all times. Go early. Entry point is packed these days. Visitor center is packed too.

There are several monuments you can stop at on your was to Phoenix.
