True story: when I was a kid, there was a shady rental property on my block that turned out to be a drug house. Police had been surveilling (?) it from the two houses across the street for months and pretended to be tree trimmers and electric line crews for weeks (doing what looked like nothing). When the police finally busted it at predawn hours one day, the neighbors whose houses had been used for surveillance were absolutely beside themselves with the breaking gossip! Other neighbors had been tracking license plates from the traffic and calling the non emergency line, but assumed the police were ignoring them until BAM! Open up, police!

I was in 3rd grade, but my memory is that they busted a string of drug houses on the day Dukakis visited for a campaign speech, lol
