School girl tournament

I know everyone says most of these things are political but this one was supposed to not be that way? Seems maybe it was after all?

Same - was she placed as an alternate? Or not listed at all? I am assuming everyone that was not selected was placed as an alternate but can't confirm.

It actually doesn’t even seem to be political as much as pure incompetence.

She is listed as an alternate.

Parents should NOT be able to coach their own kids(s) in this tournament. 2nd year in a row this has happened to DC Metro and is quite unfair.

Do you have any particular coaches in mind?

Agree - girls who are starters on top private school teams made lower teams/alternates. The other problem is having to accept the penalties for you and your school by turning down a lower team. They should not field more than 2-3 teams or they should remove the penalties for turning it down.

Debating turning down offer. Does anyone know how long you cannot receive USA Lacrosse honors and if this is a big deal? Anything else we should consider before declining?

-Players will not be allowed to receive any USA Lacrosse honors (i.e. All-American and/or
Academic All-American) and are banned from participating in the USA Lacrosse National
Tournament the following year, if eligible.
-If multiple players from the same school do not participate fully, or if there is a second
violation by a player from the same school within a three-year period, then all players
from that school will be deemed ineligible for any USA Lacrosse honors or participation
in the National Tournament for a period of one (1) year

Goodness, a whole hell of a lot of you don't seem to believe in character-building. Nearly 325 girls tried out and they chose approximately 100, get over yourselves and teach your kids some humility that you apparently lack.

Won't be doing this one next year.

Does this mean that some didn’t even make alternate? I need clarification on that before deciding. If everyone makes alternate and now we are being offered it’s simply a money grab at this point?

This person doesn’t have the right numbers. There were more like 150 girls at the tryout.

There were over 150 girls there. Maybe not 325 but well over 150. Those who did not make a team are not automatically alternates. I know a handful of girls who did not make a team and did not make it as an alternate. They are from private and public schools and are great players but admitted to having a bad tryout. It happens, move on. Like others previously mentioned, this is a fun non-impact event no need to get so upset your kid did not make it.

Interesting that some say it is no impact but many say it is a “prime recruiting event”?
