Does the counselor assign students into Kindergarten classes? |
No. |
Oh, OP. I worry that you are expecting WAY TOO MUCH from a public school and are going to be super disappointed.
you might be happier at private school |
Which private has Spanish immersion? Will wait for your list. |
I don’t know! But RCF Spanish immersion is a complete lottery and the way you’re talking it’s as though you’ve already gotten in- wait! Maybe you have! If so, congrats. If not, move to the Oakland Terrace catchment area for dual immersion if you are dead set on Spanish.
It’s just… your questions seem like maybe you haven’t had a kid in public school yet. And your expectations are sky high for the administration to attend to your very special child. I can see if bc I was totally and completely the same way heading into MCPS and now, decades and many children later, I am more aware of what’s going to be possible in public school and what’s not. Anyway, good luck! Or congrats! about RCF. And if you are moving to the RCF area to try for the lottery, consider OT instead. You can always get into the RCF lottery from there. |
They won’t release class lists until the week before school. Your influence over class lists will be minimal. They try to balance IEPs, genders, and kids learning English and that usually is complex enough. |
Not PP but WIS definitely does. |
Immersion? Or a Spanish class that can be taken while in ES/lower school? |
The principal is insufferably smug but you won't have to deal with her much. The building is nice and new which makes people feel good. I say go for it. |
What about Assistant Principal and the Counselors? If we need to talk to someone other than Principal? |
No longer there after one year. Moved back to teach in Middle school. |
Both counselors from last year left as well. |
Is there a Spanish immersion coordinator at the school to talk to? And do they speak Spanish? |
New Assistant Principal this year. |
Questions like is there a coordinator etc, all of that is on the website. Go read it. |
