It doesn't have the votes because Trump told the caucus to turn it down.

I expect there will be a deal with Lankford and a few others pretty soon. And then Schumer will put it on the floor and it will get a handful of R votes. But probably enough of them are scared enough of Trump that they won’t be able to break a filibuster. But it will be very clear to everyone who is causing the chaos on the border, and that’s why the Rs are freaking out.

And, that is Biden/Mayorkas as we have seen for THE PAST THREE YEARS.

You would need a change in the law to do that. Too bad Trump has said no to any legislation. Blame Trump.

Here’s a real border and immigration deal:

*e-verify and $20M fines to companies per unauthorized migrant they employ going further.

*require all housing contracts to require proof of legal residency. Anywhere that doesn’t comply can have their property seized by the govt and put up for sale at discount to sell to Americans who need affordable housing

*require proof of legal residency for all bank accounts and banking. The U.S. treasury can seize any money in account if the individual who owns it is found to be unauthorized

*increase taxes to 40% on all foreign remittances sent abroad

*proof of legal residency for all healthcare coverage. Any state that tries to skirt it should immediately lose as much federal funding as possible

*ban all ability to obtain drivers licenses without legal residency

*cut all federal funding to any university that enrolls any person without legal presence in the United States


*reinstate remain in place

*reject all asylum claims if an individual has passed through one or more countries before the U.S.

*a wall with barbed wire at the top and multiple layers of prevention behind it at the border. We can start exactly like wall that is present at the border between Egypt/Israel because it is so effective


Make life impossible to very uncomfortable for people here illegally and guess what happens? They stop coming altogether or the influx is dramatically reduced. Once you remove all incentives for coming illegally they stop coming.

This is nonsense. People are coming because they *know* that it's easy to cross the border and that they will get free housing and aid when they get here. Someone is mobilizing these people IN THEIR HOME COUNTRIES and providing them passage through other borders to get here. It is ORGANIZED, not an organic movement. This is what we need to focus on - THE SOURCE

Also, what do you mean by legal residence? Proof of citizenship of a Green Card? What about those waiting for a green card, a visa? I thought you already couldn't open a bank account or get a DL without it anyway, it's why we call them "undocumented immigrants". Literally none of these measures would make a difference until we focus on who is behind organizing all these people to come here in their home counties and assisting with their passage here.

It doesn't seem at all like all these people are allowed to come in to be cheap labor or labor at all. They are bused around the country to find shelter and food and healthcare and be dependents who cannot be deported or allowed to work and join the labor force legally or even illegally. They aren't allowed to make a living and support themselves, but cannot and do not get deported. What are they? Seems like they are a much different wave that previous waves of illegal immigrants who would usually stay hidden under covers in their community and try to get a way to remain if having relatives, kids, etc.
