You people are so ridiculous. There is zero chance that anyone not named Hunter Biden gets criminally charged for these things— he is being charged because he is the president’s son — and yet you think it’s all somehow a coverup for bigger crimes.

It’s the QAnon approach to government.

He didn't just NOT pay his taxes. He committed tax fraud, claiming deductions that weren't allowed and not reporting income.
He will not get near the sentence any other regular "joe" would get, given the same crimes. Because he is the president's son.
He is not a victim here. He is very much a tax cheat. And, should be prosecuted.

Yes. And he has repaid all back taxes.

So what's the problem?

I have no idea.

He committed fraud.

The new charges — three felonies and six misdemeanors — are in addition to federal firearms charges in Delaware alleging Hunter Biden broke laws against drug users having guns in 2018. They come after the implosion of a plea deal over the summer that would have spared him jail time, putting the case on track to a possible trial as his father campaigns for reelection.

Hunter Biden “spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle rather than paying his tax bills,” special counsel David Weiss said in a statement. The charges are centered on at least $1.4 million in taxes Hunter Biden owed during between 2016 and 2019, a period where he has acknowledged struggling with addiction. The back taxes have since been paid.

If convicted, Hunter Biden, 53, could a maximum of 17 years in prison. The special counsel probe remains open, Weiss said.

Kevin Morris, an entertainment attorney and novelist who earned a fortune representing the co-creators of “South Park” and won a Tony Award as the co-producer of “The Book of Mormon,” footed Hunter Biden’s overdue taxes totaling over $2 million.

Why would Kevin Morris pay $2 million for HB’s overdue taxes?

I -quite literally- do not give a flying F---- about Hunter Biden, who is a private citizen.

I.Don't.Care.

Ok, you convinced me, OP. I won't vote for Hunter.

Oh wait . . .

Regular Joe's don't get charged with things like this. They aren't even investigated.

Where have I heard about someone claiming hookers as a business expense before?

Hunter should be prosecuted.

Everyone should pay their taxes. Did their parents get hassled over their kid's tax issues?

When the source of the income comes from supporters of the parents. And when the source of the income comes from countries that the parents have control over. Then yes, the parents should also get “hassled.”

Not without investigation, did he? He tried to get away with paying nothing.

Did he file amended returns for the crap he claimed as deductions that weren't deductions?
Did he pay his taxes for 2014-16? Nope. Weiss allowed those crimes to go away due to the statute of limitations.

Had his name not been "Biden," he would have been indicted years ago.
He was warned failure to pay would be an election issue for his father in 2020.
And, HE didn't pay them. Kevin Morris did. Wouldn't this be considered a campaign contribution?

No one is defending him. If he is found guilty, then so be it. It still has nothing to do with the President or the current administration.

If anything, it bolsters the argument against cutting IRS investigators and auditors and yet, these same GOP are trying to do just that.

Did Hunter Biden run for office such that he had a campaign?

No?

Then it isn't a campaign contribution. What right wing moron came up with that argument?

I guess it is a pretty sure bet that Biden won't drop out of the race now.

He needs to win in order to pardon his son. Unless of course, Hunter pleads guilty in advance so that Joe can pardon him before he drops out.
Or, if he can get Gavin to pardon him when he runs if Joe drops out.

Such a dilemma.........

Ford pardoned Nixon before he was even charged with a crime. If Biden really wanted to he could pardon Hunter after the election (whether he wins or loses).
