No he hasn't, becasue this Potomac ECNL team was just formed. |
Than how would you know how good they are? DS has played Potomac’s top boys team which I’m assuming is the one that will be their ECNL team. But if you’re implying that the new Potomac ECNL is already good based on the boys that will comprise it, I’m assuming they’ve drawn away boys from other teams, maybe PPA? |
The new Potomac ECNL team is about 80% PPA Green, plus a few kids from Potomac and a few outside kids. |
Obviously, still just talking about 09 teams. |
Ok, then yes, Potomac ECNL is likely a very good team if mostly PPA Green. So where did all the other Potomac kids go? Bumped down or moved elsewhere? |
I'd assume ECNL-R, although it wasn't a very strong team, and I wouldn't be surprised if they stayed in EDP. |
I think some of you are overestimating the 2009 PPA Green squad based on an older version. They lost a couple players to DCU. The spring 2023 version finished 4-4-1 in their half of USYS South Atlantic Premier 1. I have to imagine the top half of their ECNL division will be pretty good and they'll slot in somewhere in the middle. |
They're certainly not as good as they were (they lost three great players to DC United), but they won State Cup again this year. Anyway, this is a thread about the best 09 teams in Montgomery County...no one is saying they're a fantastic team, just that they're one of the top in that group. |
Yup; agree with PP above. Also, even though ppa green lost a bunch of players, supposedly Only 7 or so, made the Potomac ecnl team. So definitely not 80% |
Fair enough, but I think the PP who projected a sizeable gap between Potomac and Bethesda's MLS Next squad was probably correct. |
If that's the case, do you know where the other PPA Green players went? Because only 3 or 4 are still on PPA. |
Yeah, I don't think anyone was arguing that. Bethesda's MLS Next team is far above any other Montgomery County team. Although they lost a couple of key players to DC United as well. |
OP here,
Can someone tell me about DC United? I'm not saying my kid would play for them, just curious what "lost some players to DC United" means. |
They moved to the DC United youth academy. |
DC United's MLS Next teams start at U14. So when they started up their U14 team from scratch last year, they took many of the best players from other teams in the area. Three players from PPA, two or three from Bethesda, a few from Pipeline, etc. |
