My kid is on week two and still doesn’t know the counselor’s names. Not terribly encouraging.

Same. Was disappointed in this camp. Especially for tweens - junior CITs.

My kid was also in the tween/junior CIT program and HATED it.

Had your kid done Sandy Spring before? My kid is going to do a week of the Teen camp (which I think is the junior CIT one you're discussing) later this summer, but has been a camper at Sandy Spring for many years and enjoys it; I'm hoping the teen camp isn't that different!

Are you referring to HeadFirst?

Not the PP, but Beauvoir has its own camp.

For an off the beaten path overnight camp, my teen had a great experience with East Outdoors rock climbing camp. https://www.east-outdoors.com/summer-camp-info

Parktakes - my son LOVES the extended day at South Run so much that he wants to be the first to arrive! They have good pick-up sports going in the field house. I had just expected some board games and art supplies…

He also has enjoyed the various camps he’s done. But I had to call out the extended day because it was a surprise.

My kids was a junior CIT last year and wasn’t happy - very disorganized. Is a full CIT this year - no cost to parents - and loves it!

Was it traditional day camp, adventure camp or a different one?

Tween was very disappointed in VYS soccer camp. According to them it was meant for little kids and was “fun” games with a soccer ball all day vs soccer skills and playing actual soccer.

teen is enjoying FCPS' IFTA. Disappointed to hear that some classes were canceled because of low enrollment. free/reduced lunch eligible students can attend for free, so I suspect FCPS is doing a poor job of promoting it.

Not PP. I want to try their adventure camp but my kid is a nonswimmer. I am not sure how safe it is since I see many water activities. I also wonder how kind of lunch do they provide because I have a picky eater.

4th grader who lives/breathes/eats soccer had a good time at MSI's soccer camp. Included a water-balloon fight, popsicle day, etc., they even had misters to help keep the kids cool.

My older one enjoyed a week at Camp Letts (sleep away)

My kids loved Barrie Camp. This was our first year. They were always excited to go, even with the long bus ride. We did the first 4 weeks of the season. The first week seemed smaller and the admin seemed to be juggling growth week over week. That said, they were very responsive. My only complaint is my littlest changed groups EACH week and never had the same counselor and the kids changed so much each week my kids had to make new friends.

We are doing Camp Levine session 2 next. Excited to be in the same group with the same kids and counselor. We have done Levine for years now, so we expect excellence as always.

My two are in the FCPS Young Scholars Programs (rising 6th and 8th graders) and are a bit disappointed this year in the curriculum. Lots of computer time on ST Math and Myon. The soccer balls were deflated and the kids couldn't play on the soccer field at recess. They had to stay on the blacktop. In the past they've done more project based activities but this year it feels lack luster.

Ice skating camp at MedStar and Dynamic Gymnastics camp also got good reviews.

+1 for Orange Line. My DS has attended 3 years. He's liked all Arlington county camps (for past 5 years), especially sports camps.

Good Counsel's Basketball and Soccer camps were very good! Hoping that the rest of the summer goes well.

My rising 8th graders are loving the summer theater camp/program at their secondary school. It's perfect b/c it doesn't start until 10am so they can sleep in, is only $300 for 4 weeks, and they can walk there.
