Maybe ops son isn't as picky? |
We do make more and DS has been with his GF for a year. She comes from a family that doesn’t give her much, so it may be the only gift she gets. |
I was coming here to say this too! A decent weekend travel bag in a neutral color. Very useful. |
This list is horrendous. A computer bag is ok in theory but this one's ugly. |
OP here. Thanks to everyone who made a contribution! We suggested some of the items mentioned here with our son. He apparently talked with her, and they would like us to host them for a nice dinner. We will do that, and probably give her a small gift as well. I like the idea of a travel tote, although have decided NOT to discuss it with our son (in case he might veto it). We'll just do it, and give it to her at the dinner |
I made a beautiful work bag for my son,s gorlfriend for her graduation which cost me about 50.00 in materials alone. If I give her a 50.00 gift card with it, is that enough? |
I was wondering the same thing. My parents were very old school about these things. They didn’t like us accepting any expensive gifts from guys we were dating and they didn’t really get that involved with meeting significant others unless it was someone you were that serious that it was on the marriage track. We also didn’t have a lot of money. I personally would have felt uncomfortable with a $150 grad gift from college boyfriend’s family and it wouldn’t occur to me to do so for the significant other of my kids (daughters). |
How long have they dated? I would feel really uncomfortable if my boyfriend's parents gave me a gift ( unless they are engaged) I think a nice dinner out is a big gift but personally I wouldn't do anything else. You could just give it to your son and girlfriend to go out to dinner Or you could join them ( ask son) That's enough honestly! |
Just be careful. You might make her feel uncomfortable by being over the top. |
Brazilian wax. They'll both appreciate it! |
the cuyana makeup bag set ($110) is my go-to gift. You can get it monogrammed. simple, classy, thoughtful. |
She is probably 22 because it is a college graduation. There is a big difference between the taste of a HS grad and a college grad. |
Assume you know where she is going to college? I’ve given things like gift cards to the pizza place or bakery on campus. Or membership at a local museum? Or a gift card to a local theater if she likes that kind of thing? |
