How do current students get selected for Professional training division? |
I'm not sure how, but I think it starts at 15 |
Has anyone heard who the new head of the upper school is going to be? |
They absolutely do retain some students. |
Recently? I see the same struggling kids in DDs class year to year, she said shes never heard of anyone getting held back. A few kids leave, I suppose they could leave because they were retained... |
Or the new artistic director, for that matter? |
The rumor is that there will be an interim artistic director put in place. Not much has been started yet. The 2023-2024 season is already set. Julie did that. For the school summer intensives are moving forward with the assistant head and faculty. |
There was at least one student who repeated a level this year, she was in my kid's class last year and did not advance to the next level. |
It'll be XR, right?! Yay. |

Question to the Seber poster: Is there much or any favoritism, or pressure to take private lessons to get sufficient attention? We’re facing this at my dancer’s current studio, and it’s just getting too much. No way I’m spending $10k on private lessons each year just so that my kid gets featured more prominently Any feedback on this would be appreciated. Thank you! |
Any new info on how things are going at TWSB? Or is it too soon to tell how some of the leadership changes are panning out?? |
Company problems may trickle down to school.
Interim, temporary AD does not bode well, IMHO. That means, no one internally to step up even temporarily. And its hard to believe that a plum job like AD of TWB would be this hard to fill unless there are major problems (e.g., excessive debt, board in-fighting, inability to book theater space). |
PP those are good points. I was thinking of having DC audition for the summer intensive for next year but I've heard through the dance parent grapevine that it isn't that great.
I did get an email from Ticketmaster about the tickets for the Nutcracker already being on sale, though! |
So the old head of the Upper School left and went to Philadelphia School of Ballet - PSB now opened a beautiful satellite campus and an amazing looking boarding program. #Jealous |
