Anyone have experience with the resorts in the Grenadines (palm island etc) or Bahamian Out Islands (like Kamalame)? Willing to have a long day of travel for an incredible beach and more intimate but still kid friendly experience

Anonymous wrote:Grace Bay Club and Shore Club in Turks are both amazing and in your budget during off season.

Grace Bay is 2k or more per night for a one bedroom suite.

Well before I posted I saw rooms were $900/night in July

July and August are the worst times to go due to hurricanes.

Did OP say she was going in the summer?

I would not go to the Caribbean in the summer. We go to the Caribbean in the winter and spring. We do parks, Europe, Asia in the summer.

My braggiest, showiest FB friend goes on and on about this place. I could never go there just on principle. Plus I could never afford it - lol.

Rosewood Mayakoba is amazing. We went for $2k per night a few years ago. I got priced out this winter. It was $5k+ during peak week after Xmas.

Anonymous wrote:Thank you so much! We’re looking for a resort to visit after attending a wedding in OSJ. A few months ago the st Regis was above $1000 but then dropped to $750 and now $550. It’s unclear if the kids club is running but that’s not a deal breaker. We have young kids and don’t like to eat at restaurants multiple times per day—that may be our only issue but maybe I can sneak a lot of snacks in with us to supplement room service.

We’d eat breakfast and then snack all day around the pool, and eat an early dinner.

The “lake house” activities also are often overlooked but absolutely don’t miss them - one of our kids favorite spots at the resort. Just get a golf cart to take you there.

We’ve stayed here. Agree the hotel is nice, the lake is fun, and we recommend renting a cabana near the pool. The downside is the beach isn’t great - as in, most people stay at the pool because the beach is very windy and on the rougher side. It’s not a lounge ag the beach place, it’s a lounge at the pool place. We still like it but you should know that.

Anonymous wrote:Sorry to threadjack but we’re considering Bahia St Regis off season because rooms are suddenly around $550 (plus fees). Concerned by some bad TripAdvisor reviews. OP did you go there recently, with kids? Would love to hear more

OP here. We've been a couple times in the last few years. We don't have kids but there are plenty of kids on property and lots of activities - the lake house like a PP mentioned, they also have free bikes you can ride around the resort which is nice. We love the resort and will probably go back because of how easy the DCA-SJU direct flight is. Our only downside is there are a ton of mosquitoes, but nothing some bug spray can't fix.

Odds of a hurricane are very small.

That is weird. I always thought people value Rosewood Mayakoba because of privacy it offers. Yes, it is ultra luxury, but not a party place or anything. People typically keep it to themselves and the resort is very quiet. It is not a place to brag about, but a place to enjoy amenities, privacy, and the relaxing environment for a few days.

No. Not that expensive depending on the size of your party.
