PB&J on rye bread -- y/n?

Anonymous
Rye with jam and a cheese like Brie or port salut is good.

This is my favorite, caraway seeds and all.

it wouldn't be my first through fifth choice but I'd eat it and be fine with it

I don't see a probably with it. Husband and I go on a rye kick every once in a while and use it for everything -- plain with just butter, eggs and toast, jam and toast, and sandwiches.

So I guess the question should really be, what's worse, PB&J on marble rye or PB&J on an everything bagel?

If you pick everything bagel, does it matter if it's toasted or not?

If you had crackers, apples or bananas, I’d eat one of those with peanut butter before rye bread.

I think I'll just have my peanut butter on a spoon, but thank you for asking.

How can you eat peanut butter without anything else??? Does it not get stuck on the roof of your mouth?

Yes! I eat it often.

HAHAHA. Well, I like a good PB&J, but if my only choice of bread is rye or an everything bagel, I'll just eat the peanut butter plain! I actually do like peanut butter on a spoon for a quick snack. I usually have a glass of water on hand, so it doesn't stick. I'm in my 50s and it's a quirky holdover habit from childhood. And, I never double dip. That would be gross.

My family would do this too. I never thought of rye as only for savory things. PB&J is just fine on it. I've eaten it multiple times.

I have not finished the whole thread yet, but YES this!

Totally depends on what you grew up with as your default bread.

Yes for me. I love rye bread, and prefer it to the tasteless toast. I also like sourdough for pb/j. Anything except the bland white toast.
