Going rate for pet/house sitting?

We're going to be out of town for 2 weeks this summer and I'm thinking of asking a college student who babysits for us if she'd be interested in staying at our house with our cat for all or a portion of the trip. I was thinking $20/day--is that a a reasonable offer? Is $25 more realistic? I know that she'll be nannying during the day for another family, so I'd only expect her to be there in the evening/over night. In other words, I don't have a set number of hours where I expect her to be with the cat, but I need more than the 30 min. a day or so that I'd get with a regular cat sitter. Thanks.

My cat sitter charges $20 a day if she comes once a day and $30 per day if she comes twice a day. She is really good.
Make sure you get references of the college student if you don't know her well.

No worries about needing to check references since she already babysits for you OP.

For my house/pet sitting duties, I usually receive $30/day and it is expected that I will sleep overnight each single night in the residence, feed the cat 2x daily, refill the water dish 2x as well as scoop out the litter daily. I am also there in the evenings for companionship so the kitty isn't entirely alone and I let the kitty sleep with me too.

Other duties are checking the mail daily, taking in any delivered packages and letting the gardener in the gate as well as taking the trash bins to the curb weekly.
