Does this mean they won’t allow girls to play up? Because they will be ignored by college coaches because they too are playing with others in the wrong grade? |
They said not allowed. |
Ask yourself, would you recruit a player thats playing down a grade? |
|
Gentlemen, I beg you please don't feed the troll. We just had a couple of nice and quiet days. "...some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn" |
Please dear god everyone maybe if we cry together the bad man will go away. 😭😭😭😭 |
Yeah, Arlington just updated their age change FAQ. Grade is considered but not an automatic promotion card. "Q: Can a player born between August 1 and September 30 play up if they are in the higher school grade? A: School grade may be considered as part of the evaluation, but the decision to allow a player to play up is ultimately based on technical criteria including the player’s skill, maturity, and readiness for the older age group. Grade alone does not guarantee that a player will play up." If Arlington doesn't think kids have to play up because of grade and they are a top flight ECNL who wants to please college coaches to keep that recruiting pipeline, something tells me that college coaches will probably just watch the players Arlington recommends just like they do know regardless of age/grade. |

Roh Roh Shaggy clubs are using grade in school as a determiner for their teams.
Just like I said would happen. Humorous that they went back and updated their ridiculious FAQ. |
director at my daughters ECNL club said the same thing. They will allow players to stay up regardless of grade will have everything to do with individuals ability within the new age group. |
I can almost guarantee all Aug/Sept birthdays will play with their grade at either the A team or B team level. I just doesnt make sense to play players down a grade and screw them out of being recruited to play in college. |
Unless it doesn't screw them out of playing for college, because you're too hung up on this point. |
And the update has this key sentence that blows up any thought of a rule that forces players to play up because of grade: "Grade alone does not guarantee that a player will play up" |
Arlington just wants to keep options open. They dont know what the 2026/27 rulebook looks like yet either. The fact that Arlington updated their FAQ specifically calling out Aug-Sept players playing with their grade means they were likely reading this thread and realized that it's a huge issue. Wait until the soccer moms figure it out and threaten to leave the club if their kid is forced to play on a grade down team. |
Then, they'll go because their kid wasn't good enough. This is what happens at top level ECNL. |
| Parents threaten to leave all the time. Most then learn they have no leverage and then decide to stay with what's offered because maybe the club is right about the kid's talents/ability and it's often too hard to change clubs. |
And the club will get a reputation for forcing players to play down. Which will mean that Aug and younger players will avoid the club. Or parents will make it clear when trying out that they wont allow their kid to play on a grade down team. Or just adopt a policy that Aug and younger players will play with their grade team. Be it A or B team. |
