So what does this mean? Nothing will happen? |
This is absolutely a leak from the Trump team to try to smooth the way for Trump’s announcement. None of this is a defense to most of the potential charges. |
Nothing was ever going to happen unless there was an attorney general with a spine. |
So, it's over? Especially now that he intends to run again? |
He was always running. He was never going to be held accountable. I’m accepting it. I’m disgusted. Now we just have to make sure people don’t vote for him. |
Hey whatever happened with the nuclear launch codes that trump had Or the classified information he was going to sell to the Russians and Saudis? You people are utterly ridiculous. |
I don't understand why being a candidate protects him from anything. |
It doesn’t, but I think that is Trump’s hope. There’s no way they pulled Rody away from a partnership if they weren’t moving forward with this case. |
Because Garland doesn't have the stones to charge him. |
That’s what the investigation is for. Have all of the classified documents that Trump and his people mishandled been accounted for yet? Where are they and who’s had access to them? National security is a priority for some of us. |
Garland isn’t responsible for charging Trump. That’s within the purview of the grand juries conducting the ongoing investigations. Garland’s responsibility is to put as much distance between himself and the grand jury as possible in order to blunt accusations of political motivation. The more career prosecutors working the cases the better. |
You don't seem understand how grand juries work. |
Butteremails! Remember when you cared about national security? |
DP. PP explained it inartfully, but they have the gist of it correct. Garland will keep his distance for good policy reasons, and career DOJ will make the decisions on what, if anything, to take to a grand jury. |
Dude...they never cared about national security. |
