Wondering if I was the only one having my kids do workbooks/homework during the winter break. Besides reading we weren't assigned any so I feel like they need to do something!
They play, build, color, do puzzles but need a little academic stimulation! Any other ideas during this cold week? |
| No homework in this house (other than reading). We all needed a break. |
| We do some workbooks. No set schedule. |
|
We do penmanship practice and current events almost every day regardless of whether school is in session
We did a few supplemental history readings in place of other reading. No formal math, or writing (other than thank you notes for presents, which we're just starting now). A few of our favorite board games might be considered mildly educational at a stretch, and my youngest helping with the Christmas baking might have passed for informal math (fractions, addition, etc). Very little formal academics, in other words. |

We have some Minecraft catching up to do. Also school math, and homework essays in our native language. DH is doing home repairs, and took this opportunity to teach a few geometry facts to the kids. The cylindrical duct is going into the wall at an angle, so how do you calculate the shape of the elliptical hole in the wall? |
| Homework? Why start now? |
| Nope, not except what is assigned by the school. |
| Op here. Thanks for the ideas!! Some great ones incorporating learning with everyday life. |
|
Reading everyday
Math practice for 10 minutes a day. |
| Scince Fair Project. |
| We do math daily, an occasional writing project, and some fun puzzles that the kids like (written kind, not cardboard kind). |
| Sporadically. Reading, writing and multiplication table. |
| Glad you people weren't my parents. |
Likewise, I'm sure -- I guess? |

We had a large homework package in K.
Did about half on the 23rd after school and will do the rest on Sunday when he gets home from my parents. He is supposed to be reading at his grandparents' but who knows. They put him to be 2 hours late so I doubt they make him read *sigh* |
