What Does Your 8 Month Old Play With?

Anonymous
DC seems to be bored with everything we have. He just wants to crawl all over the place but at times I need him to just sit and play. Does your DC have any favorites? We have lamaze toys, stacker toys, blocks, containers, and some items that play music. Maybe DS is just still too young to enjoy these?

Our 8 month-old seems to enjoy anything with lights and music, but mostly she wants to MOVE! I think it's just an age where getting moving and grabbing household items is what they would like to do most. I know friends who have used the gate enclosures, the ones that form a circle, so that their crawlers can move around but in a contained space.

I have an almost 8 month old. Nothing holds his attention for that long, but the toy that does it the longest is a little play piano. He actually knows how to press the keys and he will sit there for a few minutes and do that quietly.

It is called the Fisher Price Interactive Baby Grand Piano.

Our boys favor toy was the Fisher Price laugh and learn house (from 6-16 months).
It has music, colors, shape and they can crawl through the door, can open the windows and push different things (clock, music and drop balls).

I am selling it now...it is still in good shape. See under For Sale.

I second the play house- DD is 8.5 months and got it for Christmas and loves it- she also loves the pop up pals to push down. A Fischer Price stage that blinks and plays songs is a fav. & Leap Frog Learning Table is good.

The Learning Table type toys are great at this age. We had a Leap Frog one with my first child and now a Fischer Price model with my 8 mo. They can practice standing with it, and you can take one or two legs off so they can sit and play with it.

My daughter does like her toys. The ones she likes the best are these:
The Laugh & Learn line. She also likes the Infantino DVD Magiq....it's a DVD and a toy that goes with it that "interacts" with what's going on in the video. She likes the Infantino Activity Triangle. Instead of regular blocks, we got G Baby blocks that are magnetic and I think it's easier for her to play with because they don't need to be pushed together. Her favorite toy is her Taggies dog that has a bone in its "tummy" that vibrates, although she doesn't seem to care about the vibrating I'd suggest taking the baby to the toy store and putting some stuff in front of him. They do respond to things at 8 months.
