My husband, 16-month old daughter, and I are moving to the DC area in the next 2 months from Boston, MA and we need a realtor/relocation specialist. We are considering renting for 6-12 months until we figure out exactly where we want to permanently settle. We'll need someone to tour us around the DC/NOVA area at least 2-3 times in the next 45 days. Recommendations will be most appreciated.

I recommend Elizabeth Russell with Long & Foster, extremely knowledgeable about the area & market. Excellent to work with and was very helpful to my husband and me.

I would highly recommend JC Mernin with Long and Foster. He is an excellent agent -- I'm a client of his.

We've also used Elizabeth Russell twice to sell and buy and have really enjoyed working with her both times. Give her a call.

I recommend either Harry Brubaker or Helen Ross with ZipRealty.

Helen helped us sell our old home and buy a new one in NoVa in 2004, and we were very pleased with the results -- she did a beautiful job of staging our old home so that it sold very quickly. This past year, my best friend was looking to relocate to DC, and I referred her to Helen, but because Helen was unavailable, my friend worked with Harry. My friend was super-impressed with Harry and the level of client service he provided.

Here's a link to Harry's profile on the ZipRealty site:

Good luck, and welcome to DC!

PP again -- I mean to provide a link to Harry, not put quotes around the link. Here's a second try:

Op, Long and Foster (the 300 pound gorilla in these parts) has a relocation division. I suggest that you contact them. There is a link below. When we moved down here in May, we found that individual brokers were less interested in showing us around and more interested in showing us houses that were being for sale (they do work on commission so I understood), you may get tailored services if you speak to a relocation team.

Good Luck

JC Mernin with Long and Foster will show you as many houses as you want -- he really is a super guy and I can't say enough great things about him. Plus he is from the area so he really knows it very well!

Best of luck!
