Dude, England uses a school year system, it is widely known. Your link doesn't show anything... We did this in the last (now archived) thread. https://www.thefa.com/~/media/Files/TheFAPortal/governance-docs/rules-of-the-association/standard-code-of-rules-for-youth-competitions.ashx |
Southampton Youth Acadamies... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southampton_F.C._Under-21s_and_Academy |
Dude, just read the FA rules. Your links have nothing relevant in them. https://www.thefa.com/~/media/Files/TheFAPort...th-competitions.ashx |
Looked through the doc. This is for p2p / rec league youth soccer. It has nothing to do with Youth Pro Acadamies. Nice try though |

AI Overview
For youth player selection, Crystal Palace uses the English football academy system, which sets age groups based on the player's age on August 31st. The cutoff date aligns with the UK academic year and is standard practice for all Premier League academies. |
Yeah, I'm not sure why that guy is posting links to things that don't say anything about a BY or SY system. It is very well known they use SY in England. That doesn't make it good or bad, most places seem to use BY which corresponds with their SY. |
Doesn't seem like clubs are grouping by Aug 31 considering groups are titled u18 u17 u16 etc |
| Why would someone come here and make things up that are clearly false? |
Dude/Karen; Everyone knows the calender the Prem uses...... Dont be stupid. |
I think people are quick to make assumptions and then don't back down. I've done it before. It is easier to press on rather than admit a wrong. Also some people post things others posted elsewhere, so there is a layer of plausible deniability. Take the latest MLSN screenshot-gate thing for example. None of us really know if it is real or not. I mean, it is a real screenshot but it could be completely made up text. |
Then how in the world do they play international games with a 9/1 cutoff? MLSN plays loads of international matches and they will not be able to do it unless they stay BY, impossible. |
