I was in NYC over the weekend and realized out of the 100's of ppl I saw, NO ONE was wearing UGGS. I found it quite odd because as soon as I got back to DC, I saw UGGS again. Since, I think NYC is ahead of us in terms of style, I figure I am missing something. What is a good replacement boot for the UGGS? I didn't notice people wearing anything in particular in NYC to replace the UGGs(most boots were dress boots).
TIA!! |

There are Uggs that don't look like they should be worn by Eskimos with a sealskin cape.
http://www.zappos.com/ugg-thomsen-stout The riding boots still have the wooly insides and are comfy. I got mine last year. Guess I am a NYC fashionista. |

Uggs were originally designed as slippers, not as outside shoes.
As for what to wear for casual and warm boots instead, start with REI, Title 9, and maybe Athleta. Find a style that suits you. Brands that come to mind: Patagonia, Merrell, Keen. LL Bean and Lands End generally have similar styles, but tend toward wider feet and calves. If you want something dressier, La Canadienne, Aquatalia, Blondo all make weather-proof (and warm) boots. |
The BIG secret as to why NYC succeeds in fashion: they are not sheeple. Seriously. |
Oh please. Ask OP how many North Face jackets she saw over the weekend. |
Now if she genuinely likes her uggs and tosses them to copy NY ers she's just as much of a sheep. |
Exactly. I am sure that there were just as many people wearing whatever brand is hot at the moment there. It's just not UGGS. So, figure out what is popular there, wear it here and you can say that you caught onto the trend before everyone else in D.C. Hopefully that will make you feel better. |

I got a pair of biker books from Boden with furry insides. They are short.
I know it sounds weird, but they are so comfy and warm and I love them! I'm also an Uggs hater though. |
| I scorned Uggs for a long time -- reverse snobbishness. I figured anything that popular with teeny boppers and their mom's alike was something you could not pay me to wear. Then DH got me a pair of Ugg boots for Xmas last year -- not the kind the 12-yr-olds wear, a dark brown knee high riding boot with a 2 inch heel -- and I have to admit it was the most comfortable boot I have ever worn. I now own 3 different styles of Uggs and all are extremely comfortable. I repent of my snobbishness. I heart Ugg. |

I bet you did see lots of Uggs, OP, just not the "classic" style.

| I actually like Koolaburra much more than UGGs. |
| Aquatalia and la canadienne |
| I just bought a pair of Uggs an hour ago. Haven't owned a pair in 7 years. Decided I wanted warm boots that I could throw on without socks to walk the dogs first thing in the morning. Fashion be damned. |
Please! They are mindless sheeple like everyone else. Tomorrow, when the high is in the 20's, you will see a ton of Uggs in NYC. |
