If you don't care about interior decor, and don't care what you house looks like on the inside, how come?
So many of my friends pay a ton of attention to their appearance, clothes, makeup, etc. but their house looks like grad students live there. Interior decor doesn't necessarily have to cost a lot of money, but there can be some time and effort put into finding a nice art print, rug, lamps, etc. A few trips to Home Goods or Pier 1 can do wonders. |
Because I don't care what my house looks like on the inside. My capacity to care about things is limited and does not include the appearance of the inside of my house. How come you don't care about the things I care about? |
Because I am the only one in my family who cares about tidiness so it's a losing battle. As long as the house is clean, though untidy, I deal. |
Funny, I am sort of the opposite. I care a lot about home decor, not nearly enough on my own clothes and appearance.
We all pick the battles we think we think are worth fighting. |
I am sure your friends are better at other things that you're bad at. |
YEAH! |
I care, but I have limited amounts of time, money, and do not have intuitive taste when it comes to putting things together. So I end up with a mix of things I like individually but that don't necessarily go together. Also, I struggle with form vs. function. I am an out of sight, out of mind person so it helps to keep things that are beneficial to my health and well being out where I see them - but they don't necessarily look good there. |
I care, but don't know where to start. would like to have a professional decorate for me, but I am intimidated about finding one and the cost. |
I dunno, OP. How come you're not a dentist or entymologist or concert pianist or mountain climber or sculptor? Why don't you care about archery? We are all different and have different interests, talents and capacities for both creation and appreciation of design. Most people don't give a shit about your Noguchi table and that is FINE. It is also fine that you love it. |
Ah, we're just trying to give you an outlet in which to feel superior. |

Maslow would be proud. ![]() |

I do care, but I have very particular tastes and I can't afford anything I like so I do nothing. ![]() |
Unless you're loaded, you can't care about everything or you'd be broke. I picked "house" to put my energy into, but my clothes are meh and I drive a 15-year-old Toyota. My friends who look impeccable do tend to not have great furnishings in their homes, even though the houses themselves are nice. But it makes me feel special that people like my home. |
