Anyone have this problem with the fit of their jeans?

I have an unfortunate body type: those "saddle bag" protrusions from my thighs, no matter what size I am. So my thighs are a full size larger than my waist. Right now I am a size 14 in my thighs and a size 12 in my waist. That ratio persists even when I lose weight. I am a casual dresser and a stay at home mom, so I mostly wear jeans. Does anyone else have this problem? What styles and brands of jeans work best for you? Or do I need to find myself a tailor for all my jeans?!

I haven't done this myself but from watching What Not To Wear for years, they always said that nipping in the waist was a pretty easy tailoring job. So find a few pairs that fit the biggest part of you and get them tailored.

NP here. You can tailor the jeans to get the waist decreased, but then pulling them on over your hips might be harder. I either do that, or get lower rise jeans (so they sit more on the hip) and then wear tank tops tucked in to avoid plumber's crack.

I have this problem. I look for "curvy fit" jeans made from a softer denim fabric, which will conform to the curve of my hips rather than creating a gap at my back. If there's a small gap, I can usually fix it with a belt. I have a pair of Joe's jeans and a pair of J Brand that work pretty well. Also a pair from NY & Co that are slightly stiffer but have enough curve through the hip to work.

anne taylor jeans are much better about not falling down in the back…

I have a large (11"+) waist to hip ratio and the Loft Curvy fit jeans are the best I've found so far. (Note I have not tried premium denim.) I have tried altering jeans but it hasn't turned out as nice as the Loft Curvy's.

My mom is built like you - go get the jeans taken in. World of difference.

Maybe try Levi's Curve ID--they have different versions based on different waist-to-hip ratios.

I have the same issue, my thighs are bigger proportionally than my hips and waist. It is not to the point of needing to take in the waist, though. I just noticed that 7 for all mankind lists thigh measurements (for at least some of their jeans). Maybe this will help you.
