Covid Relief Bill thread

Pelosi needs to be on Twitter congratulating Trump for doing the right thing and pledging to get on the House floor tomorrow to pass the extra $1400 he wants as a clean bill. And then she needs to do it.

And just like that, Dems won the Senate.

Trump got them to review his Election fraud claims, Section 230, and bring up the $2K checks for a vote in the House. I mean okay whatever. I'll believe McConnell will allow a $2K vote in the Senate when it happens.

Press Secretary says he signed. GovTrack hasn't updated.

Why did he sit on the bill and not just sign it when he got it?

I like it.

The $2000 checks are a winning issue for Dems and a real problem for McConnell. Vote on it and watch the Senate squirm just before the runoff. They do not need Trump, plus the Tea Party plus the runoffs. Popcorn time.

Something needs to be done about 230. But not the way Trump wants. Social media companies should not be able to monetize disinformation. Especially the personal libel/slander of private citizens that keeps ruining lives and putting lives at risk. If the earn clicks off it and Twitter is informed it’s libel, they need to pull it down or pay damages. They are de facto publishers. And if they want to publish who killed Seth Rich conspiracies, they shouldn’t make a profit doing so. But that’s a substantive debate that needs to be decoupled from all things Trump. Unfortunately, Trump wants the opposite— more conspiracy theories.

I’m sure it will shock no one when Adam Schiff reports to the House next week that he’s talked to the FBI and DOJ and found no evidence of election fraud. But hey! He looked.

Done. Done. Done.

The Defense Act veto override is going to be interesting.

So glad as a Fed that we are putting Trump’s control of the budget in the rearview mirror.

Because he's a selfish toddler.

I said I hated Trump earlier today - still do. However 1 week loss of benefits (some states might still honor the PUA/PEUC anyway) is acceptable compared to Pelosi' holdout from August - November where the unemployed 'lost' over 16 weeks.

He managed to get this in and if he gets the $2K on top of that (highly doubtful) he won.

Mitch 'Silent as a ghost' McConnell finally speaks up

He himself was the holdout, but I guess he won because people like you think he had no part in it.

No, I am very well aware that he screwed over the country, delayed unemployment, almost shutdown the government, and made Christmas miserable for some of the Americans with the most desperate of circumstances.

What I am saying is that it was never a consideration for $2K stimulus checks - the Republicans (specifically the Tea Party nuts) and McConnell wouldn't allow it. The Democrats didn't even raise the prospect after early summer.

The fact that a Republican president not only raised it but potentially got McConnell to support it is something that the Democrats haven't been able to do in 9 months of argument for substantially lower checks.

It is what it is. I feel that Trump is a merciless bastard and he really only wanted to get his Election Fraud claims before Congress but if it worked - then he and he alone just got adult tax-filing Americans an extra $1,400.

Good enough for me. Pelosi has confirmed that Trump signed the bill.

Based on how fast he signed the bill, this whole $2000 sideshow was a blatant distraction to his pardons.
Anonymous
This was a distraction by this evil man to keep him in the news cycle as “fighting for Americans “ and out of the news for pardoning treasonous white men. Also, he cannot handle that he lost the election and anything to keep the attention on HIM is good. This man is truly pond scum.
