As a Catholic married to a non-Catholic, I am wildly curious about their religious life. I assume he goes to mass weekly. Where? Will he start going to St. Matts? The new cardinal is, I would think, not to his liking so perhaps he will come up to bethesda to go with the kavanaughts or out to Virginia? Does she go to mass with him? Do the kids? Will they go to CCD? Usually these compromises are worked out before the marriage and kids but he converted after all that so I am intensely curious how she’s navigating all that. Wearing white to prayer services and wreath laying….iis that a quiet assertion of the fact that she’s still Hindu?

It's pretty fascinating.

If the white clothing choices are a reflection of her practicing Hinduism, it's going to force these issues out into the open because the white in these settings is very eye-catching. His conversion to Catholicism is already pretty weird and then throw in that she's non-Christian and they have three kids... they are going to get a TON of questions about this. Especially if, like Pence, Vance becomes the figurehead for Christianity in an administration where quite obviously most of these people have no actual religious faith.

Thought JD said in a NYTimes interview that he is a weekly church goer. She attends with the children.

JD reflexively made the sign of the cross before the evangelical pastor's invocation. Pretty sure he was the only person in the entire room who did so. (Few Catholics would do this before a Protestant invocation.)

She looked classy and professional during all the recent events.

I'm glad she brings a different perspective to the table as an intelligent woman of color on a rather dull canvas up there.

She somehow keeps wearing clothes that attract attention while also being weird and ill-fitting. Is this satin? White satin? On a Tuesday morning in January? When it is 10 degrees outside? Wut.

I honestly think she'd do better at this point just buying like a full system from Theory or MM La Fleur or something -- everything in the same three colors, mix and match, same shoes and coat with everything. Her trying to create bespoke looks for different events is a disaster and she'll never be able to keep up.

She's in so far over her head.

Calm down, she looks fine. And she was the only one not rolling her eyes at the Bishop of Washington's plea for mercy from Trump.

She’s 39 and she looks around 59, so no, not really. She needs some help.

OTH- It is so refreshing to see someone not trying to look 29. Her white outfit was fine, if it were me I would have worn a wool or cashmere camel wrap coat over it.

Agree her white outfit was one of her better looks - possibly her best? - but come on. You can look your age. It's not like you either have to try to look ten years younger or settle for looking 20 years older, in Usha's case.

I liked the blue gown more but agree with everything else you said except camel is usually not as flattering on darker skin.

If they play their cards right, he will be the next president, especially if Trump keeps slipping cognitively and Vance has to be his stand-in. I think we will see Usha gain more confidence in her public style as the years go on.

The fit on the blue gown is so much better. It's not my taste (I agree it looks like tinsel), but I have pretty provincial tastes and can recognize this as fashion.

I think she looks nearly 40. It’s just that we are so used to everyone dying their hair, getting Botox, getting treatments, that we have forgotten what aging looks like.

I think this is right. And coloring your hair really shouldn't matter in terms of what's "fashionable." I think that attitude is really passe.

Usha is not a pretty woman, she has good height, decent features and a fit body BUT her gray hair, under eyes circles age her a lot and she wants to wear these as a badge of honor so it’s fair that we criticize how we want.

Exactly. She thinks she's better than women who take pride in their appearance. Of course the Trump crew is probably thrilled because they think she'll appeal to ordinary women who don't have the botoxed and bleached look that a lot of MAGA women have.

No one is falling for it.

The bolded and your concluding wannabe snapping it off sentence are both deranged. What’s your issue? What suggests that this woman does not “take pride” in her appearance? I don’t get it. And I’ve posted - not her neighbor, not Indian American, not her friend, not Republican. Like how does this woman’s appearance get under your skin to this degree? I don’t think anything about her styling is an F-you to any of us watching her.

I think it is very clear that she wears the gray hair and underage bags as a badge of honor as PP said. If you can't see that, I can't make you see it. That's not me being a "wannabe" that's me seeing what is obvious to several people in this thread.

And she doesn't get under my skin to this degree. I think she actually looks nice today, largely because she appears to have spent time grooming herself.

DP, I see the gray hair and bags. But why is it a badge of honor rather than the mark of indifference? What leads you to say honor?

Or she's stopped dying her hair because she's pregnant again. I have no insider knowledge, but that's my theory...her hair wasn't gray a few months ago and seems odd to stop dying it right when you're under a lot of scrutiny.

No, it's been gray the entire time. It was gray during the RNC and gray a few months later when she went on Fox News and gray on election night. So, unless she got pregnant before the RNC and doesn't show much when pregnant, she's just mousy.

She does indeed have a headshot on that page.

that's brand new in the last few hours! Wasn't there this morning. Not sure I love that color on her but she looks nice enough to me.

Well, I liked her gown and white outfit today but as they say: Two steps forward, one step back. That picture is awful.
Anonymous
That color is awful on her. She may not be into fashion but at the very least, she could afford a color analysis so she figures out what colors photograph best on her.

Way overboard on the lipstick and her grays stick out like a sore thumb.
