Meh even chatGPT and google know it ![]() |
and they also live outside of the Northern Virginia Data Center's too ! |
Yes. U are right. TJ is completely unknown outside of VA. Glad to make ur day. |
Where is the source of this information. Judging from TJ destination of 2023, you need 4.4 to get into UVA and top schools. 4.1 seems too low |
For decades everyone has heard of TJ as the number one school in US. But after admission changes and lowered rigor, TJ went down in ranking. |
When I asked chatGPT about it, it was confused and thought I was talking about a school in a different state. |
As it what are the best high schools in United states ![]() |
Or " Thomas jefferson high school for science and technology" |
4.1 W is correct. UVA admits are typically the top 25%, so their gpa’s are in the 4.4+ range |
The first class of kids under the new program are not yet the main cohort showing up in the ranking data. They’re juniors now. |
Most TJ applicants aren't able to make the cut these days. |
Most who are familiar with the changes realize the school is now stronger than its been in decades. Toxicity has been reduced and the rampant cheating that was affecting selection was addressed. |
Blah blah blah. Posts like this imply that nothing has changed and that the school still suffers from a culture of cheating and competition rather than academic interest. But since this frequent poster also seems to have no real knowledge of the school, maybe the recent changes have helped somewhat? The impact of the pandemic currently seem to be the largest factor so it will be more years while things shake out before we'll see. |
Cheating is what students resort to when they are admitted to TJ using essay instead of solid math and science skills test. |
This was pretty rampant since they were selecting kids who had bought the test answers. There were so many who thought nothing of cheating back then. |
