kinda gross question- dandruff and hair color, etc.

So I really get very little dandruff, if ever.
But I recently had my hair keratin-ed and also I Have highlights and overall color.
So, I hadn't washed my hair in 5 days. I am trying to get it used to not washing as frequently (well, every 2-4 days - 5 is a lot).
And I had HUGE chunks of dandruff in the front of my hair which makes me think I have it in other places, I noticed when I washed.
I used dry shampoo in between may be this is why?

What do you advise? MY scalp is itchy and I have these chunks but perhaps I my hair will become accustomed to it?
I know you are not supposed to use dandruff shampoo on chemically treated hair.

Why?

Dandruff shampoo damages the color (or fades it quickly).

Depends on the dandruff shampoo. Your scalp might just be reacting to the trifecta of chemicals you just applied.

Are you sure it is flakes of scalp, and not flakes of dry shampoo?

I color and highlight, and my scalp has become more sensitive over the years. A gentler hair dye will help. Gentler shampoos, too. I would start with avoiding SLS.

For treating dandruff, look into Neutrogena T-Sal and Aveeno Nourish & Dandruff control shampoo and conditioner. I think they are both color-safe, although you should probably still alternate them with a mild "regular" shampoo.

Wash your damn scalp. You just covered it in all kinds of chemicals, your pH is way off with the keratin, and you think going 5 days while coating it in dry shampoo is a good thing?

It's probably accumulation of the dry shampoo. Five days of that, and you have probably just messed up the balance of the oils on your scalp.
