| Do you use a French Press? How had is it to use? |
| I do. Makes the best coffee, hands down. It isn't hard - put water on to boil, grind coffee, measure coffee into pot, pour over water, wait two minutes, press down, pour. It is messier to clean - pour out the grounds and bit if leftover coffee into compost pile. But I love coffee, and there is no tastier way to make it. |

It is incredibly hard. Many try, but only the strongest and bravest succeed.
|
| It is called a French press, but even an American should be able to use it. |
+1 I love it. Although I use pre ground coffee. |
| I tried it, and I did think the coffee got less bitter. But it also got stone cold in seconds, so I went back to my trusty Mr. Coffee. |
| It's called the Freedom Press in my house. |
|
Yep, everyday. I have a tiny one that makes two cups (one mug) and a mid size one that makes four cups (two mugs).
Nut my favorite way to make coffee is with a Chemex coffee carafe. Takes longer, but it makes the cleanest, smoothest coffee in the world. |
You need to put a cozy on it. Or get an insulated one. http://www.liquidplanet.com/Planetary-Design-Table-Top-Stainless-Steel-French-Presses-p-237.html |
Lol! Enjoy your freedom toast alongside that coffee. |
| We pour it into a thermos. |
| We did until we got a Chemex. Chemex coffee is utterly delicious. Never acidic. Smooth. Beats the press, but takes a bit longer to make coffee. |
| French Press can be quite nice but you need to have the right grind (coarse I think) and they can be a pain in the neck to clean. Never felt it was worth it. |
Yes, as course as possible. What's tough to clean? You just clean out the container and rinse the plunger. Takes about 3 seconds. And if it the coffee gets a little cool you can always nuke it for 15 seconds. |

Yep! Every morning. Makes the best coffee, IMO. We do it pretty much like a PP outlined, watching out for a couple of things:
1) let the water get to a simmer, but not a boil. In our electric kettle, that's when the little bubbles first start to appear. 2) set the timer for FOUR minutes after pouring the water over the grinds. That extracts the most flavor (as per my favorite food geek, Alton Brown). 3) don't let the leftover coffee sit in the press! That's a sure way to make it get bitter and cold. We put ours in a Thermos--I usually drink one cup in the morning and my husband drinks two, so this works out perfectly for us. |
