I've noticed of late that all the hot women are wearing "librarian"/birth control goggles. What's with that trend? Are they saying, "look, I too can be ugly if I try really hard"??? |
Welcome to 1999. Hey, did you hear they make phones that you can take outside of the house?! |
Are you a man?
I think funky glasses look cute. And you're still noticing that these women are "hot." Would you prefer them to wear contacts just so you won't be annoyed? |
I went through a five year period where I only wore glasses because contacts were irritating. Guys freaking loved it and would comment on them ALL the time. I met my husband then and he would prrfer if I went back ti glasses only! |
Me too! I've never heard the term "birth control goggles" but that's pretty amusing too. Anyway, when I see funky chunky glasses, it really makes me wish my eyesight would go bad. I would love to get creative with frames. |
I hate people like you. You can have my bad eyesight. |
I don't know if I'm hot, but I've always liked slightly nerdy thick-framed (think Lisa Loeb/Tina Fey) glasses. The alternatives seem even nerdier to me, and they look good on me.
I hate wearing contacts all the time. Putting plastic in your eyeballs every day is no way to go through life, son. |
Because my eyes are terrible and the thick funky frames hold the thick funky lenses? And I look hot in them. |
+1! Add the requirement of larger lens to accommodate bifocals. I don't wear my retainers anymore though. Maybe that will become a new trend, hot ladies in thick nerdy glasses while wearing retainers. |
Because we are sexy librarians.
|
I've been wearing glasses since I was 4, and hate chunky frames. I pay good money for frameless, hingeless, glasses, thank you very much. |
And I'm a complete nerd/geek. I just don't want those glasses. |
OP, are you hot for teacher? |
But wait, boys don't make passes at girls who wear glasses!
I've worn eyeglasses for over 25 years, but mostly wear contacts. When I was a recent college grad and interviewing for jobs, I routinely wore eyeglasses to look older and smarter. I've now worn glasses long enough to see eyewear fashion come full circle; in 1985, my first glasses were enormous tortoise shell frames, then progressively I wore smaller frames that eventually (1995) were all the rage and were what Elaine wore on Seinfeld (tiny, Ben Franklinesque) then bigger but more angular, and now...back to where I started. |
Female here, and I've noticed this too - I think it's the Jenna Lyons effect. The trendy glasses these days are seriously ugly and nerdy - big and dorky like Lyons', or else way more Lisa Loeb (ugly retro hipster cat-eye) than Tina Fey (cute librarian). Lots of big hideous Keymaster glasses too. If they were all the Tina Fey style - or, awesomer yet, Claire Underwood style - no one would be complaining. |
