Best source for inexpensive, safe cordless blinds?

Anonymous
Baby is becoming mobile, so we need to replace the basic mini blinds in our house with something safer. We don't have the budget for nice window treatments right now -- we just need something inexpensive and safe (and hopefully not too terrible looking) that we can install ourselves. Any recommendations?

IKEA roll blinds?

Why do you need to replace? There are things you can buy to make sure the cords are up and out of the way.

Can you hammer a large nail up high and tie the blinds to this? It would make opening and closing them a little more work, but it wouldn't be as expensive and wasteful as new blinds.

Op here. New guidance is that the inner cords are also a hazard, not just the pull cords. So we need to replace.

Bed Bath and Beyond has them.

I have both the Ikea roll up fabric shades and the stick-on easy lift accordian shades from Amazon (I'm sure they are at HD too). The stick ons are pretty nice, easier to use than the Ikea cordless shades.

We got ours at home depot. They cut them to whatever the dimensions of your window are.

Absolutely positively the least expensive option, and they work. Just beware the clips used to position the opening/closing position of the blinds: they can come apart and be a choking hazard.
