W&M--GPA

DS is ready to apply ED. We just have one nagging concern. Have heard rumors that grading is tough, and DS has a grad program in mind where they don't take into account the school you went to when they look at GPA at least in the first round (according to the website). Is it really that hard to maintain a high GPA at W&M? Anyone have positive stories to tell about recent grads with success in grad school or career placement?

I don't have any recent information but my sister in law went to W&M ~20 years ago. She got a 2.97ish GPA, which was above average for her program I believe. She applied to grad school at W&M and was told that she needed to have a 3.0. I've also read that many of the schools known for "hard grading" aren't really that different anymore and have experienced grade inflation. It's hard to imagine an institution like W&M consistently putting their students at a disadvantage once it became known that other institutions were inflating grades.
